He flushes. “You’re welcome. Now, rest for a bit. We’ve got the room for a bit longer, right?”
I nod against his chest. “We do.”
“Good, then let me get my cuddles in.”
So that’s exactly what I do.
Chapter Seventeen
Andrés
“You know you really don’t have to wait for me. There will be someone who can walk me to my car. I’m sure you have better things to do with your day,” Dani says, glancing over her shoulder.
I shake my head. “Nope. I don’t have a damn thing to do. Hell, I’m not usually awake yet. This is totally going to fuck up my sleep schedule again.”
She gives a mocking gasp. “What? You might have to sleep like a regular person?”
“After one day? Unlikely, but who knows how it’ll go.” I shrug because it really doesn’t matter. “And I’m not leaving you. The others wouldn’t have left either if they didn’t have somewhere to be.”
She hums as she pulls the sheets off the bed. “I guess I should be lucky Maya was able to make time for us at all since she’s working all night at the burlesque club.”
I roll my eyes. “Like she would ever tell you no. You have that girl wrapped around your finger.”
Hell, she has all of us wrapped around her pretty little finger.
“Yeah, okay.” Dani ducks into the bathroom to grab the used towel and tosses it on top of the pile of sheets.
While she grabs her bag, I pull the fabric into my arms and wait for her in the doorway. She shoots me an unimpressed look when she goes to grab them.
“I was planning on getting those.”
“I’m aware, but why should you when I’m here?” I hold up my hand when her mouth pops open. “And I don’t want to hear about how you’re an independent woman who can do things for herself. I’m well aware of that fact, but why do something when someone else is willing to do it for you?”
Her mouth snaps closed, leaving me to shoot her a smirk before stepping into the hallway. I drop the pile into the laundry bin before wrapping my arm around Dani’s shoulders as nerves race through me.
“Also, I was kind of hoping I could talk to you.”
She frowns as she turns to look up at me. “About what?”
I laugh. “A lot of things, actually. But only if you have time.”
Her face immediately softens as she leans into me. “I always have time for you, Andrés. Where do you want to talk?”
“Would you mind if we just talked in the parking lot? It’s not really something I want anyone to overhear. Plus, it should be nice outside, and the sun still won’t go down for hours.”
“It’s been a long time since I’ve had any kind of meaningful conversation in a parking lot,” she says with a smile. “That sounds perfect, honestly.”
Now, that gives me a few minutes to get my thoughts together.
I’m not sure exactly when I decided that today was the day, but I’m sick and tired of tiptoeing around my own life. I need to learn to start speaking up for myself and telling people what I want.
There’s a very big possibility that this will end up blowing up in my face, but you have to take big chances for big rewards… Or however the saying goes.
I’m totally going to fuck this up.
We both wave at Nova before stepping outside, and I steer us toward Dani’s car. The least I can do is give her the option of a quick getaway, if that’s what she wants.
She climbs onto the hood of the rental and pats the spot beside her. I hesitate for a moment before jumping up to sit at her side.
