He wrinkled his nose. “That is one of my least favorite things to be.”

I rolled my eyes. He was really just too much today. I looked to Will and smiled. “Hi, Will. How are you?”

“Fine,” he kept approaching us, so naturally Owen moved in closer on the other side of me. “How are you?”

What a loaded question that was. I thought of Rafe this morning and his soft nose. “Today I am great, thank you.”

Will stopped ten feet short of us. “Are we really going to do this? Are you really going to pretend like you don’t know me with these fake pleasantries?”

Krew’s eyes flew to mine before narrowing on Will. “Are you honestly going to approach her in public like youdoknow her?” His jaw clenched. “Like you have some sort of hold on her?”

Will took in Krew, head to toe, before looking at me. “I thought you were in Prince Keiran’s Assemblage?”

“I am,” I provided.

Will looked back to Krew. “So now you are parading around with both princes?”

“Watch it,” Krew snapped. “Suggest that she is anything other than the honorable person she is, and you will find you do not like it.”

“Wait,”Will put up a hand as he kept looking at me and ignoring Krew completely. “Do they just share women?”

Krew took a step forward, his magic flaring to life, but I put a hand on his arm and squeezed to stop it, pulling him back.

Once I was sure Krew wouldn’t lunge for Will, I stalked toward Will and yanked him by the arm out of earshot of the other two. “Donot,” I snapped.

Will shook his head. “What else was I to think, Jorah? You’re supposed to be in Prince Keiran’s Assemblage and I see you flirting in the streets of Nerede with Prince Krewan?”

Had we been flirting? Was it bad I didn’t know? I held my head high, not feeling remorse for even a moment. “Dammit, Will, did you ever consider that there may be a reason I am escorted by one of the three most powerful Enchanted in the kingdom to and from Nerede? He’s here formy safety.”

That had him calming down. “Oh.” He paused. “So why isn’t Prince Keiran here then?”

I didn’t honestly know the answer to that. “Can we not? Can we not do this? I don’t want you to play the part of the jealous ex-lover.”

“No,” he glared. “You just wanted me to fade away instead.”

I shook my head. “You didn’t have to, we could have stayed friends, Will, but you wouldn’t let me go!” I put my hands in the air in exasperation. “Let me go. Find someone else. Get married. Have a slew of babies. Live the life you always wanted.”

He let out a sigh that seemed to last for a full minute. “Fine.” Just before I turned to leave, he added quietly, “Are you going to be okay though?”

I shrugged. “I have no idea. None.”

Will’s eyes went wide. “So, is it worth it then?”

Now I was the one sighing. “Only time will tell. I don’t know the answer to that either.”

Will cocked his head. “Well, I wish you good luck then. I may be jealous, but I do not wish you any ill will, Jorah.”

“Nor I you,” I smiled tightly as I turned to leave. “Bye, Will.”

“Bye, Jorah.”

I didn’t know if that was the last time I’d ever see him; I only hoped it was the last time I’d have to tell him to move on.

Owen looked ready to pummel Will when I began walking back toward them. “My turn?” he begged.

I rolled my eyes. “No. Leave him be.”

Krew was quiet as he fell in beside me. We boarded the carriage, and he still hadn’t said a word.
