“Fuck, you’re even more beautiful when you come,” he said, his eyes devouring her.

As the last tremors faded, she lay there, heart pounding and struggling to steady herself. It had been years since she’d had an orgasm.

He withdrew his hand, watching her with a satisfied grin while she caught her breath.

She gripped his arm and urged him to move on top of her. “It’s your turn,” she teased while tugging at his waistband. “I can’t be selfish.”

He snorted. “Getting you off is hardly a chore.” Pressing his lips to her chest just over her racing heart, he added, “Don’t do anything just for me. I can wait.”

Mara cupped his face and pulled him down. “I want this, Gordon.” She pecked the tip of his nose. “I want to feel all of you.”

He responded with a low groan, his hands hastily working his pants down. Their lips barely parted as he pressed against her, the heat of his arousal making her ache.

Gordon reached into a drawer and pulled out a condom. As he unwrapped it and slid it on, he kept his attention on her, maybe ensuring she still wanted this.

He guided himself down and brushed against her, spreading her wetness over his length in slow strokes.

She swallowed hard. What if it hurt? What if she couldn’t enjoy it? The sensations that slipped through when she was with Dawson were uncomfortable or even painful.

What if he gave her an STD? Condoms didn’t always work. She doubted he would omit that information, but she needed to be sure.

“Have you been tested?” she blurted out.

His eyebrows rose and he leaned over to grab his tablet. He tapped a few times then turned it for her to see.

Every panel was negative.

“It’s from a year ago,” he said. “But… I haven’t slept with anyone since then.”

She handed it back to him, feeling relieved but still nervous. “Thank you. If I had my tablet, I’d show you mine… I’m tested every month.”

Her throat burned from having to mention Dawson, even if it was indirectly. It was like he lurked in every possible moment and she couldn’t escape.

“It’s okay,” he murmured. His eyes swept over her, like he was trying to solve a puzzle. “If you aren’t ready, that’s fine. We can stop right now.”

“No,” she whispered. “I want this.”

He nodded and went back to sliding his erection against her center. Even through her anxiousness she could recognize how good it felt.

How was he so patient? Did he really think she was worth all this effort?

“I need you to make me a promise,” he said, his voice thick with restraint.

It was taking everything in her not to push against him. “Anything.”

“If you don’t like something or you’re uncomfortable, tell me.” His hand trailed down the curve of her waist and settled on her hip. “I will stop. Always.”

“I promise.”

He removed his shirt, revealing broad shoulders and toned muscles. Of course he was gorgeous all over.

Something else caught her eye as he leaned forward again. Gordon was wearing the key she’d given him on a chain around his neck.

“You did like my gift.”

He kissed her cheek as she hooked her legs around his hips and pulled him closer. The anticipation was killing her.

“I like everything you give me,” he replied.
