I pulled Todd into my arms and tucked his face into my neck. My scent always calmed or excited him, and I knew that at the moment, it would calm him. I felt him relax not only in my embrace but through our bond as well.

“I’m sorry, Todd. I didn’t mean to upset you.”

Todd looked over at his brother. “I’m okay. I’ve been overly emotional during my pregnancy. I had a complete meltdown over which shirt to wear when we were supposed to have dinner with you the first time.”

John’s eyebrows disappeared under his bangs. “Was that why? We were just told you weren’t feeling well.”

“In a way, he wasn’t feeling well. He’s doing better now though,” I said before I looked down at my mate. “Are youready to go get a burger and fries? And how about a chocolate milkshake?”

That earned me a smile that was worth everything. “You definitely know the way to my heart.”

“I thought I already had it?”

Todd pulled me down for a kiss, but again, teenager in the room, and there was no way I was going to do anything more at the moment. I sighed through our bond.“Now that we are guardians to a teenager, I guess that means we have to keep certain activities to the bedroom, huh?”

Todd pulled away with a horrified look on his face. Luckily, John had walked off, leaving us alone.

“That’s so…wrong,” Todd whispered. “Now you need to get me a fudgy milkshake to make up for it.”

I laughed as I followed my mate into the hallway. I’d get him whatever he wanted.

Chapter 20

Todd

“Dr. King?” I called out as I walked down the hallway of the clinic. “Is it normal to go from looking slightly pregnant to there’s absolutely no denying a man’s pregnant within a week?”

Dr. King was smiling when I made it to the doorway of his office. “You have effectivelypopped, Todd. It is only going to get more uncomfortable from here on out.” Dr. King sat on the front of his desk. “How are you feeling overall? Any pains? Odd cravings? Do you need anything?”

I sighed. “I’m good.” I rubbed my side where one of our daughters was pushing against my ribs. “They’re babies. And because there are two of them, shouldn’t they be tiny or something?” I took a deep breath, and after a moment, my daughter finally relented on stretching, and the pain in my ribs, and probably my liver, subsided.

“You’re an omega and were born to carry babies. But you are also incredibly slender. More than many other omegas.”

I sighed. I knew it was in part because I’d spent several years basically being starved when I needed food the most, but it was also because I was on the slender side. I often bordered ontooskinny, actually. “Is it going to cause issues with the pregnancy?” I asked. “Me being so skinny?”

Dr. King shook his head. “You’re healthy, the babies are healthy, and I don’t foresee you being slender as a complication. You are gaining weight, you’re eating as you should, and there haven’t been any major issues. Pregnancy sickness is quite common, and except in extreme cases, it’s not normally life-threatening to you or the baby.”

“So I’m just destined to look incredibly pregnant?” I asked.

Dr. King smiled while nodding his head. “Yes. Even if you were carrying a single baby, you would look incredibly pregnant. The fact that you are carrying two, and they are around seven pounds combined already, means you look as if you are ready to pop.”

I rubbed my stomach again. I felt ready to pop at times too. Just last weekend, I could still somewhat hide my pregnancy. Now, there was absolutely no way I could. I looked pregnant because I was. “How big am I going to get?” I asked but not really expecting an answer.

“That depends on how large the babies are. You’re carrying girls, and they tend to be smaller. You’re also carrying cheetahs, who are also smaller than, say, wolves or bears. Also factor in that you yourself are slender, you’re going to show more. It’s just how physics works.”

I groaned as I looked up at the ceiling. “Fine.” I rubbed my stomach once again when one of the babies decided to push out on the other side. I didn’t know if it was the same baby or her twin, but they were definitely doing yoga stretches in there this afternoon. “I’m going to go check on your next appointment,” I said.

Dr. King stopped me. “You don’t have to because my last appointment was before lunch. There are only a few pregnancies at the moment, and you are one of them.”

I nodded as I left the office. That would explain why the clinic had been so quiet. If there were only a few of us pregnant, then Dr. King wasn’t going to be that busy.

I had just sat down at the desk when I felt Briggs through our bond.“How are you feeling?”he asked.

I pushed on my side, then felt the same pressure on the other. They were tag-teaming me now.“Fine, but your daughters are doing yoga. They are stretching so much I think they’re trying to push out on both sides.”I sighed in relief when they finally relented.

“I’m sorry you’re becoming uncomfortable more often.”

My mate was absolutely amazing. He was the sweetest, was always looking out for me and now John. Although John had only been with us for less than a week, Briggs had been amazing. They had gone for a quick after-supper run three nights this week already. My brother was absolutely eating it up, and although Briggs wasn’t his father, he was an amazing father-type figure for him. It gave me a glimpse into what type of daddy he was going to be to our children, and I couldn’t have asked for a better life partner.
