“Yes,” I whispered. Frederick grinned at me before his hands moved from my waist to my face. I inhaled quickly at the contact because although I had expected the tingle, it was so much stronger than I’d anticipated.

“I’m probably a little rusty at this, but I’m sure it’ll come back in no time.”

“I can’t imagine you being bad at this,” I said in reply. If anyone was rusty, it had to be me. The last time I had been with anyone had been embarrassingly long ago.

Frederick didn’t make me wait for my first kiss from him. He slanted his head to the side, his hands directing mine to go in the opposite direction. Seconds later, when his lips touched mine, I closed my eyes and moaned as the tingling from where his hands were on my cheeks migrated to where our lips were touching. His were firm yet gentle. When he increased the pressure, I opened my mouth without hesitation. When his tongue touched mine, I saw sparkles of teal behind my eyelids.

Chapter 7

Frederick

Iwould kick myself if I didn’t take the opportunity to kiss Dominic when given the chance. I might occasionally do stupid things, but I wasn’t dumb. I could already feel the connection between us when I touched him. When my lips may contact with his for the very first time, it was more than anything I had ever dreamed of.

Tingling vibrations that had been at the tips of my fingers seem to travel through my arms, and directly to my lips where they were touching his. I wanted more though, and when I applied light pressure, Dominic opened his mouth to allow me access. I hadn’t been kidding when I said I was probably a bit rusty when it came to such but it was a lot like learning to control your magic: you simply didn’t forget how to kiss someone.

My tongue pushed out and when it made contact with Dominic, he let out a moan and his body melted into mine. I quickly moved my hands from his jaw, running them down the front of his chest and around to his back so I could hold him more securely.

Dominic’s hands mirrored mine, and when they slid around my waist and up my back, I pulled him tighter to me. I continued to explore his mouth with mine, and when it became apparentthat neither of us was going to pull away, I gave in first. Breathing was unfortunately necessary so I broke the kiss.

I took a deep breath and realized that Dominic did the same thing. I returned, hoping I wouldn’t be denied a second kiss. My heart went from racing to aching when Dominic pulled back slightly. Immediately, I dropped my hands from his back and took a step away.

“I apologize,” I told him. “I asked for a kiss, not several.”

“That’s not it,” Dominic said as he pulled me back into his embrace. “I was only going to ask if we were going to continue kissing in the entryway or if you were going to perhaps invite me in?”

I took a quick look at where we were and, remembered that yes, we were still in the entryway of my place. “Do you want to come in?” I asked as I held out my arm and gestured towards the rest of the house “I have wine if you would like another glass or two. Or perhaps coffee?”

Dominic shook his head while grinning. “Neither right now but possibly later. I was really hoping that you would give me a tour,” Dominic said as he gave me a heated look.

Tour. Right. He could probably find his way around the house if he went looking, but why would he? “I’m going to spend the evening apologizing it seems. If you want to follow me, I can show you around the place.”

Dominic nodded slowly as we started to walk away from the front door. When we passed by the stairwell, he stopped me pulling on my arm. I had been headed toward the kitchen and then the back den area, but Dominic started up the stairs, and I quickly caught on what he was wanting. At least, I hoped what he wanted.

I stopped him by gently pulling on his hand. “Are you certain?” I asked when he looked back at me. I wanted to make sure he absolutely wanted this. I knew if we went upstairs tomy bedroom, but things would happen and we would end up claiming one another.

“Yes. Like I was seeing earlier, it doesn’t matter if we claim each other now or next month. Either way you and I are going to end up together. I don’t know about you, but I would rather spend my time getting to know you while already being claimed by you.”

He made a valid point. Again, I wasn’t an idiot and I was going to accept the gift that Dominic was giving me. I nodded and as I started up the stairs, Dominic fell into step beside me. There wasn’t a whole lot of room for the two of us to climb them in such close proximity, but we made do.

There were three bedrooms upstairs, and two of them were completely empty. Once we reach the top of the stairs, Dominic looked to me, and I pointed to the door on the left at the end of the hall. “I’m down there,” I said. As we walked, I pointed at the two spare bedrooms. “I never filled these. My family doesn’t really visit so there was no need for furniture in them.” We made it to the end of the hall and I pointed at the door that was directly across from the main bedroom. “That’s the second bathroom up here. I’m not sure why it is that the single enforcer housing has so many bedrooms.”

“I wouldn’t know. I do have a question though.”

I stopped just inside the door to my bedroom and looked at Dominic. “You can always ask me anything. What is your question?”.

“You said second bathroom. Is it all right to use it? I really need to empty my bladder after all of the wine and coffee we had with supper.”

“Of course. You are welcome to use either one. I do have soap and towels in there. If you need more than that, either use magic for what you require or you’re welcome to use the bathroom inhere,” I said, indicating the bedroom. There was an ensuite in here, and I didn’t mind if this was the one he used.

“No, I’ll just be a minute,” Dominic said.

I nodded and watched as he disappeared into the bathroom. I went into my bedroom and looked around. This had been my home for the past few months. I wasn’t going to be here much longer, though. I didn’t have any sort of attachment to this particular house, and I wondered if Dominic and I would make amazing memories in the house that we would share together.

I had to think that we would. I knew that my cousins very much enjoyed spending time with their Ones. Granted, Caspian had only just been claimed, but he and Dimitri seemed as if they already had been together for decades.

I was standing in the middle of the room when I heard Dominic enter and come up behind me. “You aren’t having second thoughts, are you?”

“Absolutely not. You are willing to give me a chance and there is no way I am going to throw that away.”
