The game begins, as I watch each player and of course my father like a hawk, watching their every move, finding the ways they are cheating at my tables. There's not much said between the men, it's a quiet game, maybe because they all are on edge and each is waiting for another to act. But this is not the place for that, and I do know Ace will keep it together for tonight, needing to gain every piece of information we need to take down my father, and find out what he is up to.
Getting lost in a daze I feel Ace's hand slide over my bare thigh, which sends a heat to my core, causing me to look down at him and his words come out in a whisper. “I got what I needed.”
I raise a brow, questioning his words. What did he see that I didn't? I have been watching each carefully. He lightly nods his head towards the dealer, and I nonchalantly watch the dealer with the cards. After a few moment's I see what is happening and smile, letting Ace know I too now see it.
My phone pings with a text, so I slide it from my purse, checking who texted me.
Once I get into my phone, I notice a text from Zee...
You've been called out, you have to defend your spot Emma.
If you have forgotten, you have my car.
It's done.
A smile forms on my lips and the need for speed floods my every bone and the urge to go is immediately filling my body. And I text back...
I'm coming.
Oh this is a bad idea, but I'm doing it anyway. I will not be a caged Queen, I am my own person.
I slide my phone back in my purse, before my crossed legs uncross, preparing to stand when Ace's grip around my waist tightens, locking me in place. “Don't even think about it.” Trying so hard to keep my composure, not leading him on to anything, I want to race, and I have to defend my title. “Just using the restroom.” He chuckles quietly, before he leans forward, whispering in my ear. “I saw the text, you're not going.” I laugh quietly to myself, before I whisper in his ear. “Yes, I am.” When I lean back and look into those eyes that I swear just lit a flame in them, his jaw ticks. He shakes his head as his eyes deepen their stare and I relax into his lap again, knowing I'm not getting a chance to make a break for it yet. But I will, I have time. “Okay.” I huff, as a chuckle rumbles up his throat, and he focuses on the game again.
The game comes to an end and my father shoots out of his seat before storming away, without a word. Leaving me grinning to myself.
When Caz comes over and whispers in Ace's ear, I know he is about to take Ace's attention from me and it is my time to make a run for it. Sliding my hand in my purse, I text Zee to pick me up at the casino back door, and he immediately replies back.
“Stay with Caz, I have to check on something.” Ace demands and I place a kiss to his cheek before I stand allowing him to stand from the chair, before he walks away.
“I'm going to use the restroom, if you'll excuse me, Caz.”
He looks at me with a deep questioning look, knowing I have gotten away from him before, but then he nods and I walk to the restroom with him following not far behind me.
Getting to the restroom, I stall, hoping Caz won't be outside the door. I finally emerge, poking my head out of the door, seeing he is not there, so I make a run for it.
Ace is going to kill me for this, but I'm not going to be a caged Queen, racing is my life, not this fucking casino, or my duties as a Mafia Heiress.
I fly out the back door, and there she is, my black beauty glistens off the lights, shining like she should, which brings a smile to my face, before Zee gets out of the car. “Let's go girl.”
I walk around to the driver's side, my hand wraps around the door handle, opening the door, stepping in when I hear the back door to the casino slam shut. When my eyes snap up. “What did I fucking say?” Ace growls.” I lift a brow. “And what did I say?” He goes to take a step towards me and I drop down into my car. “EMMA DON'T!” He orders me in a vicious growl while my window slides down. I look up at Ace with furrowed brows. “I'm sorry but…” my wicked diva smile breaks across my face before the words roll off my tongue, “Catch me if you can.”
“EMMA GET THE FUCK OUT OF THAT CAR!” He yells over my reaving motor. My hand slides down to my gear shifter, putting it in first and I let off the clutch and peel wheels out of there, knowing Ace was about to rip me from my car.
God it feels so good to be in this car, the vibration of the motor sending a beautiful hum throughout, easing my mind. Before I take the turn out of the alleyway, I look back at Ace and he is fuming, until I see him take off running back into the casino, and I'm gone, knowing he is most likely going to come for me and probably, oh no, not probably, heisgoing to and be fucking enraged with anger thatI ran off.
I know I'm putting myself in danger, but I've always put myself in danger. My whole life has been wrapped in dangerous shit, so why is this any different, but now the regret is settling in. I shouldn't have done this to Ace. I just broke his trust, but damn it I just need some air to myself and fill my soul with speed, so I am doing that, knowing I may not be driving much after this.
ACE
I’m filled with dangerous rage that has overtaken my mind by her sneaking off. I run into the casino to get Caz who should have been fucking watching her. I thought I could trust her, I thought we made it clear how dangerous everything is right now, but fuck, that car is going to get her killed. She keeps slipping by Caz and it's really starting to get under my fucking skin. I'm trying to keep her fucking ass safe and I'm pretty sure this is a fucking set up, I feel it and I know it deep in my soul.
“CAZ!”
“Sir, she-” I throw my hand up, stopping him, before my words dangerously roar from my throat. “Get the men and go to the mountains, I'll meet you there.” Caz nods before he hurries away and I head to the garage to get into my car.
Walking through the hallway, my blood boils over in my veins, my fucked up thoughts flood my mind, thinking of Emma getting hurt, or even worse, taken. My hands form into fists at my sides before one connects with the wall, going through, leaving a hole in its path.
FUCK!
