“They've chased you before?”
“Yeah, a couple months ago.”
“And the casino?”
“I've told Dad, but he doesn't seem bothered, so what the fuck am I supposed to do?”
“Come to me.” I growl.
“Ummm, if you have forgotten, you've been away, and well I didn't know I could.”
She steals a glance over at me while she continues to maneuver her way through the city, playing her cat and mouse game, which I find extremely entertaining and not just by making me laugh and happy, well happy yes, happy between my fucking legs, christ, this girl has got my dick so fucking hard in my pants.
“I was supposed to pay a player a visit this evening, but something came up.” Her lips curl up into a smile, her eyes catching another glance.
“Left.” Zee keeps barking out directions, like he is sitting in this car on the map as we move, pretty fucking slick if you ask me but we still have to watch what we say, I don't know this guy Zee, but I had Caz look into him last night, I'm still waiting though.
I have to get him off the phone, knowing this is our chance to take these fuckers down. And for me to show her I will stand by her side and listen to her, unlike her father.
I pull my phone out and text Caz, telling him to track me, and bring the men with him. These mother fuckers want to play in my city, and with my Queen, they will meet their maker tonight.
EMMA
Constantly shifting gears, driving down side streets, alleyways, trying to shake these ass holes, but the driver tonight is good, but I wait, my chance will come.
Stealing a glance at Ace, watching him text on his phone, Zee barks out. “Alright Em, you gotta take 'em back out on the highway, and let her eat.”
“Alright, can do.” I make my way to the highway, dodging cars and people, running red lights, I get to the exit and I slam my foot down on the gas pedal, before shifting again and slamming the gas down again, pulling away from the car behind me.
I see Ace reach over, and hit the button that loses all my connection with Zee. “What the fuck are you doing?”
“We need to end this with them, Emma. I know about the casinos, what they have been doing, I know all about it, and so does your father. Caz will be here any minute, but I need you to turn around and head towards him, instead of away from him or he'll never catch you.”
What is he asking me to do? I swallow hard, my duties chomping at the bit to be the person I was born to be, but then my heart tells me to stop. “Ace, you're asking me to lead you towards them, if they catch me…” I hesitate.
“I trusted you, now I need you to trust me.” I look over at him, searching his eyes, my heart slamming against my chest and it wins, my duties always fucking win.
I search for the nearest turn around, before I spin my car around, going the opposite direction, heading back to the city. Ace's phone rings and he answers on the first ring, saying the word warehouse, then hangs up.
“Go to the South Warehouse, take this exit.” He points to the exit and I nod as I swallow hard, knowing what normally goes down at the south warehouse, again another thing my father thinks I don't know.
Taking the exit, making my way through the city, before getting to the rows of warehouses, six cars are still right behind me.
“When I tell you to get down, get down, do you understand me?” Ace growls. My head snaps over, glaring at Ace. “They better not shoot my fucking car!” I warn him but a deep dangerous growl escapes from his throat. “Do you understand?”
“Yes.” I downshift as I slide into the entryway of the warehouse lot, surprisingly these dumbasses are still on my ass, not even realizing they're being set up.
I scan my view in front of me for any sign of anything, getting closer and closer to the warehouse, and I see a reflection in the top window of our warehouse. “Get down.” Ace barks before I lay my head down as low as I can, just peeking over the steering wheel so I can make sure I don't hit anything, and the gunfire rings out. “Go into the warehouse, Emma.” I hook a left, noticing the open door and I pull my car into the warehouse before the door slams down behindme. The orchestra of gun shots sounds out, echoing between the warehouses.
“Emma, turn your car off, stay down.” I search his eyes as he searches mine, while I turn my car off. “Stay here, okay.” I want to argue, but I nod, knowing my place is right here. “Okay.”
I watch as Ace pulls his gun from his holster, then steps out of the car, leaving me alone. The amount of gun fire is deafening, feeling like I'm in the middle of a war zone, causing chills to rocket through me.
Sitting here gives me time to think about this arranged marriage Mr. Collins and my father have, wanting to unite the families. But, I don't want to be a Mafia Queen. Of course I love the glamour, the dresses, the upscale everything, but, I could also go without it all as long as I have my car. Something tells me that Ace has a dark side to him, fuck he just had me lead him to a shootout, one that was needed, these Heathens need to learn who's city they are in. But something tells me, deep down, there is a kindness to him, not a common thing in these mafia men, but something like my grandfather, which makes it harder to see this as only a contracted marriage.
My door flies open, expecting to see Ace, but it's not. “There you are!” A Heathens driver laughs before he reaches out to grab me. “I don't think so.” I spit. My gun already in my hand, and racked, I throw my gun up and slide my finger over the trigger. He ducks away from my car, tempting me to get out, which I really consider doing, but I know, I can protect myself better right here. Ducking into the backseat, trying to be as small as possible, my rear window shatters, raining glass down on me, causing me to cover my head with my arms. I'm yanked out of my car, glass cutting me as I go, firm hands wrapping around me as I fight against them. “Get the FUCK OFF ME!”
A Devilish laugh echoes in my ear, tilting my head, looking at my assailant. “Yup, it's me again sweetheart.” He throws me off the back of my car, jumping down next to me before his hand wraps around my throat, raising me in the air.
