Seltivare smiled to himself. The comparison was an apt one because Seltivare was getting the fantastic gift of his second hoop at bedtime. More important than any earring, Seltivare was also going to peel a sexy druid hybrid out of his clothes and finally understand the full wonder of passion. Kisses were fine, but Seltivare wanted to scream out his release like in the porn video he’d snuck into the bathroom to watch the previous night.

Although Seltivare understood how two men made love to each other, he didn’t want to embarrass himself, so he’d decided a little education could be helpful in his virginal state. But he’d missed most of the important stuff. What he had learned was that his imagination was far too good.

He’d skipped past the beginning bits of the video because he was well versed in kissing now. The two men in the video werenaked and touching each other with intent. Seltivare’s brain had supplied helpful images of himself and Ashby doing the same. Instead of adding to his knowledge, Seltivare’s phone had clattered to the tiles as he lay there on the floor stroking himself.

With bright cheeks, he’d scuttled into the bedroom and dived under the sheets, hoping Ashby didn’t know he’d come on the other side of the bathroom door while the hybrid was readying for bed. Not willing to waste his time having another orgasm alone when he would have Ashby within reach at nightfall, the elf remained determined to ensure his lover enjoyed himself.

Ashby responded well to his kisses, and Seltivare had felt his hardness in the past two weeks, so he had some confidence in his abilities. That would have to do. Unless, of course, the sun never went down and Seltivare was forced to live out eternity as a virgin.

“Are you okay?” Ashby leaned close to ask.

For reasons Seltivare couldn’t understand, Ashby had agreed to watch a movie in the living room with several other D’Vaires after dinner.

“Fine, why?” Seltivare asked.

“You made a weird sound.”

“Did I? Strange. Anyway, do you think the clock on the mantle is broken?”

“No. The time is the same as my phone,” Ashby said, glancing at the device he’d pulled from his pocket.

Seltivare slumped into the sofa cushions. “Yeah, mine too. I was hoping some magical accident had frozen the clocks so they were wrong. Today has gone on forever.”

“Any reason you want today to end?”

“Watching a movie here,” Dra’Kaedan complained in between bites of popcorn he was grabbing out of a bowl that could’ve easily served an entire elven meal for six.

“Really, Squirt? Because we can hardly hear shit over the crunching of your snack,” Aleksander drawled.

“Then turn it up. That way we can drown out Ashby and Selti since they’ve decided to have a little lovers’ chat during my movie,” the Grand Warlock instructed.

Seltivare wanted to protest since, thanks to the stupid clock, he didn’t yet have Ashby as a lover, but he chose not to embarrass either himself or his mate like that. To his surprise, Ashby stood and held out a hand to Seltivare.

“Should we go to our room and leave Dra’Kaedan to his snacks?” asked Ashby.

Jumping to his feet, Seltivare grabbed ahold of Ashby and nearly dragged him out of the great room. “Great idea. Goodnight, everyone. Enjoy your movie if you can hear it above Dra’Kaedan’s munching.”

“In moments like this, I wish Selti wasn’t such a D’Vaire,” Seltivare heard Dra’Kaedan gripe as he sped out with Ashby on his heels.

“In a rush?” asked Ashby.

Seltivare didn’t bother answering until they were outside their suite. Opening the door with two metal plaques bearing their names, Seltivare shoved Ashby inside. The door hit the frame with a resounding thud.

“Hey,” Ashby shouted, the forward motion making the hybrid trip. “Are you okay?”

“Sorry. Yes, oh…I didn’t mean to be so rough. So sorry. It’s just…well, I hope you remember what today is and what you promised.”

With a rueful shake of his head, Ashby laughed and pulled Seltivare gently into his embrace. “How could I forget?”

“I guess it was more a fear of you changing your mind. Plus, today has been the longest of my life. I want to unwrap you.”

“Do what?”

Seltivare draped his arms around Ashby’s neck and met his mostly brown gaze. His druid hybrid was so beautiful. “I was thinking during that awful movie that today is like the solstice. Or the night before. When I’d wait in the bed wishing it was morning so I could open my presents.”

“What do you say we get into bed and unwrap each other?”

Without giving Ashby a second to reconsider, Seltivare ran to the bed and flung himself onto the mattress. “Let’s get started.”
