“Well, that was a tactless way for me to reveal that bit of news,” Worth said, rolling his eyes at his own ridiculousness. “You’ve heard of Sorcery D’Vaire?”

“Of course. I can’t imagine anyone hasn’t heard of them.”

“The incredible sorcerers and shifters in Sorcery D’Vaire tackle problems once considered unsolvable. Their group was accidentally formed because of their desire to create a potion. It’s called Immortalis. Everyone in our extended family was granted a drop of the precious liquid that cost each of the original sorcerers a tiny sliver of their soul. We do have forever, Owlie.”

Oliver blinked heavily. “What?”

“Be glad you don’t have to drink it. I thought I was going to wee myself in front of everyone, and the taste is absolutely vile.”

“You’re immortal?”

“You will be too after we exchange bites,” Worth replied as his dragon growled with approval at the thought of sinking his fangs into the tender skin of Oliver’s neck.

“I don’t know how to process that.”

“It’s okay, it never really sinks in fully. Take it a day at a time. That’s what I do.”

“Okay.”

Chuckling at the still-befuddled expression on Oliver’s face, Worth leaned forward and kissed his cheek. Asteria wasn’t happy with his shift in position or was worried that more affection would follow because she hopped off his shoulder and darted to her private space.

“You’ve upset Asteria,” Oliver said.

“I’ll give her extra cuddles later. Since I’ll be in bed alone, she’ll come and sleep with me.”

“You’re really making me feel terrible about leaving.”

“I suppose I should be mature and assure you that I didn’t intend to, but I hate when you go.”

Oliver feathered his fingers through Worth’s hair. “I don’t like it either.”

“Let’s fix it, Owlie.”

“I’d love to be with you, but I have an entire house to sort through and sell. The last time I moved, I was a teenager. I don’t know how long it’s going to take to wrap things up in New York.”

“I’ve a suggestion. First, we quietly meet with Larissa to redesign this space to suit us both. There’s an empty desk next to me in the High Kings’ office, or you can have a private one if you prefer. Orion’s bedroom needs to be designed too. We can get all of that started, and you can work on what needs to be done in New York. But I want a promise that as soon as this suite is no longer under construction, we share it.”

Oliver smiled. “Okay. But I think we start this room first, then work on Orion’s. Once I tell him we’re moving here, he’s going to drive me crazy asking for the exact day and minute he can leave New York.”

“That’s fair, I can understand his impatience.”

“Me too, but we’re tentatively building a bond, and I don’t want Orion to be annoyed with me.”

“The last thing I want is to create distance between you two either,” Worth assured him. Reaching forward, Worth put his hand on Oliver’s nape and encouraged him forward until their foreheads touched. Oliver’s breath feathered over Worth’s mouth as the owl shifter sighed heavily. “What is growing between us is exactly what I wanted from Fate. Someone who understands me. A man I can tell anything to. A mate that makes me happy both in and out of bed. You’re everything I asked for, Owlie.”

“You overwhelm me, but in all the best ways. Do we have time to talk to Larissa today?”

“Of course. It should be easy. We need white and pink in here.”

“I want to use that desk next to you.”

Worth smiled and kissed him. “I was hoping you would.”

“We should’ve had this discussion last night so I could make love to you to celebrate.”

“You’ll make it up to me next weekend.”

“Damn right,” Oliver whispered, then fused their mouths together in a deep kiss that heated Worth’s blood. It would be a long week, but soon, Worth would have Oliver at his side. Both he and his dragon were eager for the future.
