The Grand Duke’s expression switched to a nearly lecherous smile. “Maybe because we already had makeup sex this morning.”

“Of course,” Renny replied with an eye-roll. “I should’ve guessed that.”

“I’m starting to fear we were the only ones who did not share passion this morning, Ren,” Rorie said forlornly to his other half. “Should we remedy that immediately?”

“You mean at the table?” Renny squeaked, his cheeks turning pink.

“I meant in our room, but we could try a more public place if you wish,” Rorie replied. “We must be cautious of the children though. They are far too young to understand what happens betweenv’airsell niolls.”

“I like our bedroom best,” Renny answered quickly. Rorie stood, but Renny shook his head. “We should at least finish our pancakes first.”

With his shoulders slumping, Rorie returned to his chair and stared forlornly at his plate. “If you think that is best.”

“I do,” Renny said, pressing a kiss to Rorie’s temple. “Uh, what were we discussing?”

“The importance of breakfast versus intimacy with one’s other half,” Worthington supplied helpfully.

“I think we’re due for a subject change,” Rafe commented diplomatically.

Oliver lifted his napkin and dabbed his mouth to rid himself of bacon crumbs. “I was thinking I’d like to investigate schools in the area for Orion. At some point we’ll be living here, so I don’t think it’s premature to have him switch. Since I work for myself, I could adjust my hours to align better with Worthington’s schedule, allowing Orion and I to spend more time here. However, I know D’Vaire is isolated, so I wasn’t sure which options were feasible for Orion.”

“Do the snowy owls have a school in Vegas?” Aleksander asked.

“As far as I know, most of them live further north. Our ruler doesn’t have any young ones currently in his family, so I doubt a school exists,” Oliver replied. “But that wouldn’t be an option anyway. How would I get Orion to Vegas every day?”

“Teleporting,” Renny responded. “There are plenty of people in the house that can do it, and it takes us seconds to pop over there. Several of us travel back and forth during the week for Council stuff too if you’re worried that it’s an inconvenience. It’s definitely not. Honestly, even if we never left D’Vaire, we’d get you and Orion wherever you need to be. That’s what family does.”

For reasons Oliver couldn’t explain, he suddenly had an urge to weep. He closed his eyes for a second, and he found the truth quickly. Of course he’d grown emotional. Except for Orion, Oliver had never truly had a family. Since the moment Oliver met Worthington, the D’Vaires had treated him and his brother as if they belonged at the mansion.

Unlike the monstrosity his parents had once built, this big house was filled with love and the belongings inside it werean extension of the people who called it home. No D’Vaire cared one bit what the public thought of a single square inch of the place.

Worthington’s warm palm landed on Oliver’s back, and Asteria snuggled into his neck. “Perhaps Orion would be interested in attending one of the schools within the Spectra Wizardry system. It’s filled with a diverse group of races, and he couldn’t find a better education anywhere else.”

Swallowing to get past the lump in his throat, Oliver stared into a pair of blue eyes filled with understanding and caring. “That sounds great, how do I learn more?”

“Shit,” Aleksander muttered as Worthington flashed a sadistic smile. A second later, a shrill whistle ripped through the kitchen and the entire room went quiet except for the two wolves, who woofed in protest at the loud noise. “Was that necessary?”

“Absolutely,” Worthington told his brother. Oliver pulled his lips in to hide his grin at Worthington’s cheekiness and his complete lack of remorse over whistling loud enough to startle the entire D’Vaire family. “Now, D’Vaires, Oliver wants to know how to best educate our Orion. He’ll need to learn about the Spectra Wizardry school system, won’t he?”

Mac cocked his head to the side. “You couldn’t get yourself up out of your chair to ask the High Arcanists in the family?”

“They’re literally all sitting at the same table,” High Arcanist-mate Greyson D’Vairedraconis drawled.

“So much more fun this way. Now, answer my Owliver’s query.”

“We’ll arrange Orion to be tested, and he’ll be placed according to where he needs the most help,” Delaney said. “Don’t worry, we can easily get Orion to school in Vegas every day.”

“I already told him that,” Renny commented. “But thanks for reiterating it in case Oliver is worried that he’s inconveniencing the family.”

Orion hopped to his feet and ran to Oliver’s side, his gaze bright with excitement. “We’re moving to D’Vaire?”

Running a hand over Orion’s errant tresses, Oliver shook his head. “Not yet, but I thought you could switch schools soon so we can come here more often.”

Zarasha followed Orion to the table and laid her paws on the ribbon belt of her black dress. “You’re going to make so many new friends at your school.”

“But you’ll still be my best friend, right?” Orion asked.

The littleto’faerbeamed. “Yes!”
