“I learned my lesson the second time, didn’t I?” Saura shot back.
“Quick question. How do we define his race? He’ll be an undead elf-dragon,” Delaney said.
“I suggest we don’t overcomplicate it,” Chander said. “This is something new but not. No matter what, he’s still Emperor Draconis since he’s going to be a dragon. So, we can use the informal fallen hybrid as the classification.”
“His Majesty if you’re nasty,” Grand Warlock Familiar Renny D’Vaire snarked.
“Exactly,” Dra’Kaedan told his familiar.
“I am not having second thoughts, but I did want to ask about the repercussions of this. People unfortunately die every day, even elves, though Fate grants us an immortal lifeline barring injury. How do we justify bringing me back to life to the public?”
“If anyone gives me shit, and I doubt that they would since I resurrect for a living, I’m more than happy to tell them Fate gave you to the Council for a reason. I refuse to believe it was to only have you for a few short weeks. It’d make Chrys immortal as Fate intended by giving him an elf. I just helped since your father happened to be a dragon and that can be a fatal proposition for hybrids,” Chander responded.
“I can’t imagine anyone complaining. Chrys is well liked, and I think the general sentiment is that he’s waited long enough for happiness that only a mate can provide,” Damian added. “And the Office of the Emperor is willing to inform the public of that in case they forget.”
Ellery bobbed his head in agreement. He was doing this for Chrysander and because he didn’t want to leave him. Resurrection was just as Dra’Kaedan stated—an insurance policy to guarantee he and Chrysander weren’t torn apart.
“Anything else we need to talk about?” Chander asked.
“I just wanted to thank all of you in advance for working on this spell for me. And, Chander, I know you resurrect regularly but I appreciate you doing this, should it be necessary. Chrys is the most important thing in my life, and I have no wish for him to be alone.”
“I happen to believe you’re just what Chrys needs, so I’ll happily do whatever it takes to ensure you two are together.”
“There aren’t words to explain what kind of gift this is. I wouldn’t even know where to begin,” Chrysander stated.
Chander lifted a hand to halt any further words and looked at Alaric with such love in his eyes, Ellery was surprised it was possible to contain in one body. “I know. I wake up with Alaric every day. Because of him I know what the word ‘joy’ means. Each day is better since I spend it at his side. I want you both to have that too.”
Alaric grasped the back of Chander’s neck and kissed him so thoroughly, Ellery nearly blushed.
“They should make a porn,” Brogan said.
“I swear you have a hidden desire to see everyone on the planet naked,” Dra’Kaedan griped.
“Oh, come on baby, you know you’d watch it with me.”
“I’m going to throw up,” Aleksander remarked.
“Ell, let’s go see if we can talk Dravyn into giving you some white flowers so we can start a little garden for you. I’d really hate to see one of our kings barf all over the conference table,” Chrysander said as he stood and held out his hand.
Ellery eagerly rose and was touched by Chrysander’s desire to give him the one thing he’d missed from his old life. Duke Dravyn had a beautiful array of flowers, and he would be grateful for even a single cutting. He was excited that they were so optimistic about the spell he might or might not need in a few days. Although he was always confident in his own ability, he was no longer sure what his future held. The one thing he did know was that he wouldn’t be leaving Chrysander.
