“I think we should start splitting up the team into different aspects of this,” Vadimas suggested. “Del and Grigori are working on enhancing the elf cells and strengthening them. I think Dra’Kaedan, Saura, Idris, and I should focus on the potions which help reduce the side effects, and the rest should look toward our eventual goal of a cure. We can manage his care from this point, so there’s no need to keep trying to reinvent the wheel.”

“I agree, we don’t have a real direction to go in yet for a cure, but I know with time we’ll get there. The important thing is Elf has his life back, and we’ve put two mates together again,” Chander said. “We can offer no timetable on a complete reversal. There’s no way we’re going to offer uncertain promises, so we’ll just take it one building block at a time until we find a breakthrough.”

“Does anyone have any objection?” Aleksander asked.

Idris glanced around and found everyone else doing the same. It was nice to find them all on the same page. The stress of the last year hadn’t pulled them apart, and whenever their spirits faltered, there was someone ready to pick them up again. Each member of Sorcery D’Vaire was special, and Idris was honored to be considered one of them.

“Great, I’m going to turn things over to Idris then,” Aleksander said.

“As you know, we created a potion called Immortalis—”

“No, you created a potion called Immortalis. We just helped facilitate it,” Delaney interrupted.

While Idris always appreciated his best friend’s support, it was their whole group who deserved credit, but convincing any of them of that was pointless. “Fine. Sorcery D’Vaire created Immortalis. Happy?”

“Have you seen Grigori? Of course I’m happy.”

Idris rolled his eyes. Grigori was movie-star handsome, but it wasn’t his good looks that had ensnared Delaney’s heart. “Anyway, I was selected as a steward of sorts for Immortalis. I have determined that there are two people who are deserving of the potion for eternal life.”

“Awesome, who do you wish to discuss and vote on first?” Renny asked.

“In the Draconis family, half of them are now immortal. Elf gave Chrys eternal life when they mated since he’s elven and Tiri did the same for Zane because he’s a sprite. However, Damian isn’t. As Chrysander’s twin brother, it would be horrible if he were to ever lose him. Also, as Imperial Duke, Damian has given his life to serve the dragons and the Council. I believe we should give him Immortalis.”

“Seriously, does anyone have any kind of objection at all?” Dra’Kaedan shot out.

“It’s not like we have to worry about his honor,” Mac stated. “And I doubt anyone in the royal family is a blabbermouth who will carry the secret of Immortalis past D’Vaire.”

“Great, let’s vote,” Idris suggested. Each hand in the room raised at his request and Damian was unanimously selected.

“Big guess who is next,” Renny snarked.

“Grand Warlock Familiar, I’m also asking for our group to consider Royal Duke Costas Draconis. He’s been a part of the royal family long before Chrysander was selected as a king or emperor,” Idris said.

“Objections?” Dra’Kaedan barked.

“Please vote,” Idris requested when silence fell over the room. Again, hands were raised, and Costas joined Damian as a recipient.

“Aleksander, would you ask the royal family to join us?” Idris asked.

“I’ll be right back,” Aleksander replied as he stood. The D’Vaire King exited and the room burst into noise.

“Can you believe Aleksander did this?” Saura asked. “It’s just beautiful.”

“I’m going to have a patch sewn on all my cloaks,” Renny said.

“Who isn’t?” Chander countered.

“We’re going to have to do something nice for him,” Dra’Kaedan interjected. “I know Elf is putting together some kind of thank-you to D’Vaire, but we need to put something together too.”

“Let’s keep it simple and here at home. Aleksander doesn’t like to be fussed over,” Brogan suggested.

“A barbecue or some shit?” Dra’Kaedan asked his mate.

“And we’ll get a fucking cake for the Grand Warlock,” Renny stated with an eye-roll.

The door opened and the Draconis family filtered through with Aleksander just behind them with a pitcher of water in his hands.

“Oh, how delightful,” Tiri said as he took stock of their new surroundings. The rest of the men offered similar sentiments as Aleksander directed them to empty seats.
