“Sure thing, Preppy.”
I still don’t move.
“You ready then, or what?” he asks, and I try desperately to will this ill-timed erection away.
“Yep. Just thinkin’ of what I should show you first,” I lie.
I squeeze my eyes shut tightly, thinking of anything unpleasant.
Running late.
My to-do list.
Corn on the cob.
Gym class.
And erection deflated.
I finally turn around and paste on what I think is a confident smile. “I’ll show you the science building first since you’ll be spendin’ a lot of time there—”
“With you,” he interjects.
“Yes. With me, I suppose,” I concede. Guess he’s kind of forced me to adopt him or something. He has those big puppy dog eyes, and they are working.
“Definitely with you,” he teases, and I can’t help the small smile pulling at my lips. It feels good to have someone actually interested. . . inme. My parents only care that I live up to their every standard. They have no regard for me as an actual person.
“Follow me, then.” I pass him by, and his woodsy, pine scent seeps into my senses, attempting to corrupt my now-behaving dick.
I hurry out the door, hoping the cool air will filter the lust from my brain.
He’s my newfriend.
At least, that’s what I tell myself as I hear his heavy steps stomping down the hall right behind me. His deep voice sends a chill down my spine.
“So, where do you want to meet up in the morning? We should go ahead and pick a spot.”
We push through the front doors of Caldwell Hall, and I blurt out the first thing I see. “The flagpole?”
“Meet at the flagpole?” His eyes are sparkling like he’s teasing me, but I don’t know why.
“Yeah?” It comes out as a question, not an answer.
“Okay. I like it. Flagpole it is. Just don’t pull my pants down and tie me to it.”
“Wh-what?” I sputter, confused. “I wouldn’t do that to you, Remi. I wouldn’t even be able to if I tried.”
Remi tips his head back and barks out a loud laugh. “I was just joking, but that’s good to know. Thanks, Lincoln. I wouldn’t do that to you either,” he says, winking at me again. I stare down at my feet and the spidering cracks in the cement—anywhere but his handsome face.
“Now, where’s this science building?” He bumps my shoulder with his bigger one, making me peer into his dark eyes. A big, genuine smile graces his features, causing my lips to quirk, even though I can feel the heat burning in my cheeks.
Why does my new friend have to be sohot?
* * *
“Okay, that’s probably good enough, Linc,” Remi says as he balances on the tall brick wall next to me, with his arms stuck out on either side for balance.
We walked to the main buildings he needs to know, as well as the cafeteria. But it wasn’t really necessary. He has a map, and we also have an identical schedule now. His locker is even down the same hallway as mine.
