Nevertheless, it surprised him. He threw his hands up and stepped away.
“Faith!” He retorted. The irony of the name did not escape him.
Faith placed her hands on her hips and sighed. She moved toward the end of the tower, with Kurse stopping her before she got too close to the edge.
She slapped his claw away, snapping at him, “Don’t touch me. I’m trying to figure out how to help us.”
How could this be his fated mate? She seemed like she wanted nothing to do with him. How could this be possible?
Faith huffed out and paced around. Kurse plopped down on his butt, sending a shudder through the concrete. He didn’t realize that his cock had flopped out.
“Jesus,” Faith exclaimed. “Can you put that thing away for a second?”
Kurse pushed his enormous cock back under his loincloth. Her disgust of him was beginning to have an effect.
“I’ve got it,” Faith said, walking toward him. “I’ll need a microphone and camera. If people get to know you, maybe they will understand you better.”
Kurse rolled his eyes. He nodded, agreeing out of fear that the fire weapons were going to hurt her. However, he was starting to wonder if the Oracle had made a mistake.

FAITH
Faith was surprised by her composure as she phoned her cameraman from the yoga studio. After explaining the situation, he agreed to be escorted by police to the top of the Empire State Building. When he arrived, she noticed that she was sweating and had ripped her clothes at the chest area.
“Crap,” she whispered to herself, and she tried to cover her exposed bra with her blazer. She watched Kurse, this strange and terrifying creature, sitting in the corner of the building. He looked like he was sulking.
The cameraman, ironically named Camren, arrived with two uniformed police officers onto the rooftop. Their guns were drawn as they made their way toward her. She noticed that Camren’s hands shook as he held the camera.
She touched his hand, looking him deep in the eyes. “It’s ok, Cam, trust me. He stopped when I asked him to.”
Camren looked back at her. He whispered to her, eyes darting back and forth to watch Kurse as he chilled in the corner. “What the fuck is he?”
Faith shook her head, “I don’t know. But trust me.”
Camren nodded. She hoped she had managed to calm him, even if only a little.
The cop next to him spoke to Faith directly. “We are prepared to fire at will, miss.”
Faith shook her head, more afraid of the guns pointed at her than the potential Kurse had for violence. But, for some reason, this wasn’t something she sensed would happen.
“It’ll be fine. Let’s just get this done.”
The cop nodded, then stepped back toward the door. They lingered there with their guns drawn.
Faith walked forward with Camren trailing behind her. Kurse’s yellow eyes shot up at her. She heard Camren’s breath catching in his throat. Kurse grinned, appearing like the mischievous cat from Alice in Wonderland.
“We’re going to interview you, Kurse. Tell us everything about yourself, and we will show the world. Hopefully, this will get us out of trouble.”
Faith sensed Kurse’s lack of knowledge of some human elements, so she pointed at the camera. “This is how we are going to do that. Camren here is going to point it at you, and you are going to answer a few questions.”
Kurse nodded, his long arms hanging between his legs with his tail whipping behind him. He looked like a kid in timeout.
“Okay,” Faith said, breathing in deeply.
She motioned for Camren to begin. He swung the camera onto his shoulder and pressed a button to record. The red light glowed, which sent Faith’s heart pounding.
She stood next to Kurse, appearing close to his shoulder only because he was sitting. Camren handed her the microphone, and she held it to her lips.
