The fake Kurse was still frowning as he bounced up and down in the water but eventually did as Kurse asked and swam back to Faith. She was waiting on the boat with two towels, both of which would not suffice.
But the sight of her comforted Kurse immensely. He grabbed her by the waist and kissed her while the other Kurse played with his collar, attempting to rip it off by force.
“This is the other Kurse then?” Faith grinned.
Kurse grinned back, touching her nose lightly. “Only one at a time, baby.”

FAITH
Faith was still exhausted after taking her shower, but she knew she needed to get a few things done before she could completely relax. Once Kurse returned safely with the doppelgänger, Kurse decided to retrieve John Savage, who was bleeding immensely from his wrist. It barely clung to his limbs by a thread.
They didn’t need to restrain him, but Kurse wanted to anyway. They attached the wrist that remained to the control board of the boat. Faith’s parents weren’t nuts about the amount of blood spilling all over their boat.
“So this is the guy you were trying to get arrested?” Charles asked, pointing in Savage’s direction. He was almost completely out cold, but Kurse slapped him every now and then to wake him up.
Faith nodded, at the helm and making their way back to the port.
“He’s responsible for driving up property rates so people would leave, then planting members of Gideon’s Brood in their place.”
“Gideon’s Brood?”
Linda said through a laugh as she perched upon a stool nearby. “The names these groups come up with these days is spectacular.”
Charles was standing, toying with a drink between his hands. He looked to the doppelgänger, who had reverted back its original form as a human-like being. He pointed at him.
“And what about this guy?”
“Person,” Kurse corrected him. “They aren’t really gendered since they can take on whatever form they want. So they’re a person.”
Charles rolled his eyes so far back into his head that Faith thought he would hurt himself. “Fine, what the fuck do we want with them, then?”
“We’re going to let them go once we’ve ported. Set them free.” Faith said, glancing at Kurse as she did so. She was so proud of who he had become in mere weeks. A demon in hell would not have asked so much of him, but he came to earth for her and had become the person of her dreams.
“Sounds all very romantic,” Linda said, tapping her fingers on the table in front of her.
“It most certainly is,” Kurse said after slapping Savage back to consciousness.
When they docked the yacht at the marina, Kurse threw John Savage over his head and made his way to the police station. They all said goodbye to the doppelgänger, who had once again assumed the look of a female who had passed by.
“Good luck with everything. Remember, money isn’t everything.” Kurse said with a firm look. He felt like he was talking to his child, should he ever have one.
The doppelgänger smiled, “Thank you so much, Kurse. You have no idea what this means to me.”
Then, in a flourish of color, it turned into a young boy. It ran away into the distance, giggling, leaving Kurse and faith to scratch their heads.
“I guess that went well?” Kurse inquired.
Faith giggled, touching his arm. He was still as warm as ever.
Her parents were leaving the boat and passed her by without a word. She hollered at them as they climbed into their car.
“Thank you, for the boat, for everything. I hope you know that Kurse means a lot to me.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Charles said as he started the car.
“We will talk to you soon, honey,” her mother blew her a kiss before driving off into the night air.
