“Fuck,” he groaned. “Don’t move. Let me clean you up.”
He didn’t have to tell me not to move. I was spent. As hard as I fought myself on going there with him again, it was definitely worth the wait. I would even venture to say that it was worth the risk. I knew it was too early to tell.
I hated the thought of blowing my life up for good sex, but I felt like Key was a good man. Obviously, he had some serious shit to work out, but I wanted to be here when he did it. I wasn’t ready to tell him that though. Right now I would go with the flow.
Key came back from the bathroom and washed me up with a warm rag before snuggling up next to me.
“Come with me to Mrytle Beach, Moonie. I want to spend more time with you. I want to be free to show my love for you.”
“What time are you leaving?”
“I don’t have to be there until six, but it’s four hours away.”
“OK.” I nodded.
“Really, baby?”
“Yes. I’ll come.”
“OK, good. Get some rest, love,” he said before kissing my cheek and pulling my body closer.
It was rare that something woke me up other than my alarm or my phone ringing. The sound of a lawn mower had been nagging me for so long that I finally opened my eyes. It took a second for me to realize that I was in my guest bedroom. The memory of being fucked to sleep in my spare room came back to me in a flash. Where the hell was Keywan though?
I looked around until my eyes landed on the clock on the wall. It was eight in the morning. Where in the world could he have been so early? Maybe he had gone home. I don’t know why I didn’t consider that first.
Pulling my naked body out of the bed, I walked to my bedroom. I removed the robe from the back of my bathroom door and threw it on before going to the first window I could get to so I could look outside. I didn’t see anyone.
My brow furrowed as I walked to the back of the house and looked out in time to see Keywan putting my lawn mower up. Did he cut my grass? I didn’t have on any shoes, but I opened the back door and stepped outside. I frowned in confusion as I walked down the paved walkway.
“What are you doing?” I asked him.
“Nothing now. You hungry, baby?” he asked, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand.
“Um, yeah, a little. Did you cut my grass?”
“Yeah. I noticed that it needed cutting last night. I’ll cut it again in two weeks, so you can fire your guy.”
“Keywan, you didn’t have to cut my grass. I have a grass guy that was coming next week.”
“I know I didn’t. I was already back here putting up a motion light over your back door, so I decided to see if you had a lawn mower.”
“A what?” I asked, turning to look back.
“It’s too dark back here. Anyone could just creep up to your door without you knowing it. I don’t see a camera back hereeither, Moon. I couldn’t find one in the hardware store, but I’ll install one when we get back.”
“I guess I didn’t think about the back door since you have to do so much to get back here.”
“Criminals will do the most. Don’t worry, I’ll put one up. I don’t want you to have any reason to be scared when I’m not around.”
“Keywan.” I sighed. “You didn’t have to do all that.”
“I know, but I wanted to. Let me take care of my baby.”
How was he so sweet and so unbalanced at the same time? How was this not a man I needed to take a chance on? It’s not like I had the best track record when it came to picking men, but Key felt like someone who deserved a chance. The more time I spent with him, the more apparent it was just how much I was falling for him.
“Thank you, Key. Since you did all that already this morning, let me at least cook breakfast for you,” I offered.
“OK, I can handle that.”
