“I love you, too, Lana.”

Epilogue

Lana

“It’s bad luck to see the bride before the wedding. Get out of here.” Beth pushes Tristan out of the door and locks it behind him. She turns to look at me. “Does he know nothing?”

I chuckle when I hear Tristan on the other side of the door, complaining that it’s a stupid rule. I also may have snuck out really early this morning to see him for a quickie before I become his boring wife. Don’t they say all the fun disappears once you’re married? Well, that better be a lie. Our sex life has only gotten better since I moved out here almost a year ago.

I look down at my growing stomach and smile. Baby number two will be here in another few months, and she is making me crazy for Tristan. Not that there is ever a day when I’m not. He can play me like a fiddle. So much so, I can’t keep my hands off him. Hence, the reason I snuck out this morning to see him. He stayed at his parents’ house last night, and I thought it would be fun to get it on in the barn. We may have scared a horse or two with all the noise. Oops!

Beth helps me with my dress, zipping it up in the back, and I breathe a sigh of relief as it goes up. I catch her eye in the mirror, and she smiles at me. She is already in her sea foam green dress and cowboy boots. No wedding on a ranch can be complete without cowboy boots, even though she fought me on wearing them.

“He’s crazy about you,” she tells me as she hugs me from behind.

I can’t help but smile. “I’m crazy about him, too.”

The first time Beth met Tristan, she pulled him into a corner and ripped him a new asshole. She dredged up our past and exactly how I was after he wrote me the letter all those years ago. She was with him for a while, and when we were finally alone that night, we had the most amazing make-up sex that ended in no less than three orgasms for yours truly.

Someone knocks on the door, and Holden is standing there looking amazing in a suit and tie. Beth gives him a once over and steps to the side to let him in. She may be taken, but she said it doesn’t stop her from looking every now and again. And, according to her, Holden is a hottie with a body. She’s not wrong. If he didn’t end up hooking up with Molly, there’s a chance we could have been together—a fact I remind Tristan of whenever he pisses me off.

I am really thankful for Holden, though. He’s the one who had enough sense to get Tristan and me together again, and he kicked his ass in gear when he thought he’d lost me a second time. If I didn’t stay connected to Holden all those years, I don’t think it would have been possible for us to rekindle our romance.

“Everyone’s waiting for us. You ladies ready to go?” he asks, extending his arm for me to wrap mine through.

“Where’s my dad?”

“He’s with your mom, John, and Liz. Your mom has all but kidnapped William. She didn’t want a moment without him, so I’ve been sent to bring you ladies over.”

I chuckle and shake my head. Moving out here has been really hard on my parents, and they tried everything to get me to stay. It was a losing battle, though, since William came a month early. There was no way I could keep him away from this place. It’s so magical. William loves being around the horses, and being able to drive him out to see the wild ones is amazing. He gets so excited as we watch them run.

We walk through the door, and Tristan is there, waiting to corner me since Beth hasn’t let him come anywhere close to me. He grabs my arm, pulls me against him, and presses his lips down on mine. I vaguely hear Beth saying something, but Holden is too busy trying to drag her away. He puts his forehead against mine and holds me gently by my face.

“You look so beautiful, Lana. I can’t believe this day is finally here.”

“You’re not supposed to be here,” I tease.

“I couldn’t wait to see you, and I wanted to give you something before you walk down the aisle. As far as I’m concerned, you’ve been my wife from the moment you told me about William, so screw Beth and her superstitions.”

He pulls a little black box out of his jacket pocket and hands it to me. I gasp. Inside is a pair of pearl and diamond drop earrings that are exquisite.

“Oh, Tristan, they’re beautiful.” I pull one from the box to really examine it. “Where did you get them?”

“Your mom gave them to me to give to you. She wanted you to have something special, too, since my mom gave you the ring. She said she would have given them to you herself, but she wanted it to be special. That’s why I was trying to get in earlier, so you could wear them today.”

I take my earrings out and swap them for the new pair, which match the beaded belt that sits above my belly perfectly.

He kisses me quickly and says his goodbye so Holden can take us out to the field. I feel like a princess today. All eyes are on me when I step outside his parents’ house to get into the truck. The place has been booming with business since the new cabins have opened. Once a month they host weddings here in the field. It turns out, a lot of people want to get married on a rustic ranch with wild horses.

I wave to a little girl who looks awestruck as Holden helps Beth and me into the truck. It only takes a few minutes to reach the place, but it’s just long enough for the butterflies to start. I’m not worried about marrying Tristan. I’ve been waiting for this day for what seems like forever. I know I’m the luckiest girl in the entire world to be marrying the only man who has made me feel like I mean something.

Beth notices my hesitation while we’re getting out and says, “There’s always time to back out. No one would blame you, you know.”

I roll my eyes. “Beth, trust me, there’s not a chance in hell I’d run from this man. I can’t wait to marry him.”

“Then, get out of the damn truck already!” She shoves me, and I push open the door. I look over everyone's shoulders and see Tristan is in his place with Holden by his side. John, Liz, Mom, Dad, and William are all waiting for me so they can start their walk down. I tell them I’m ready, and the music starts to play. His parents start it off, and then my mom carries William, who is not happy to be in his little tuxedo. He has been trying to get out of it since we put him in it.

“You ready, pumpkin?” Dad asks.
