He nodded slowly and I saw the tears he tried to blink back. He didn’t repeat the words but lowered his face to my neck. He kissed as he gently rocked inside me. His tears wet my neck and I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tight.

“I’ve got you,” I whispered. “Always.”

With that, he made love to me. Hard, fast, slow, and gentle. We rolled over so I could ride him. We both came, we rested without speaking, and then we fucked.

“Tell me again,” he growled as he was about to come for the last time. “Tell. Me. Again!” he demanded, and his voice hitched with emotion, as if he was about to hear the most important thing in the world to him. I could have cried.

“I love you,” I said with as much passion and assurance as I could.

He covered my mouth with his and kissed me hard.

The sun had begun to lower before we stirred. We were, at that point, naked, lying on the nursery floor, wrapped in each other’s arms. We hadn’t spoken for a while, just dozed.

“I need to pee,” I said, untangling myself from him.

“Same.” He groaned as he rose to his knees and then stood. “Getting too old for this,” he added with a laugh and helped me up.

“Oh, I don’t know about that. You might be twenty years older than me, but I think you’re kinda fit,” I said.

He slapped my arse as I walked to the bathroom.

I picked up our clothes and headed back to his bedroom. Jacob was in the shower, and I stepped in behind him. I washed his back, kissed across his shoulders, and he did the same for me.

With a light cotton sundress on, totally see-through against the sunlight streaming in through the windows, according to Jacob, we headed downstairs. The concrete floor in the hallway was cool under my feet.

“Did we finish the tour?” I asked.

“Toilet that way,” he said, pointing to a door as we walked past it and into the kitchen. “Pantry, utility room, boot, and dog room, no, I don’t have a dog, and finally...”

He opened the French doors out to a lovely terrace that wrapped around the house. I stepped out onto the marble floor.

“Let’s walk to the pool,” I said, picking up his hand.

With both of us barefoot, we stepped onto the grass and headed for the natural pool. We sat on a large flattened rock and dangled our feet into the water. Jacob told me how the planting had been very specific to keep the pool clean, although there was a filtration system as a backup. It was chemical free and cool, never heated. He stood and pulled off his shirt, pushed his Chinos to the ground and stepped into the pool naked.

I stood and slid my sundress over my head. I yelped as I joined him, sucking in my stomach, or as much as I could suck in, as if that would stop the cold water from shocking me. Once acclimatised, however, it was beautiful. I swam around, floated, kissed Jacob as we sank under the water, and screamed as something touched my foot.

“Fish,” Jacob said, by way of an explanation. “They’ll eat your dead skin if you let them.”

I looked at him aghast. I had no desire to let fish nibble on me, even though I’d seen it happen in a spa one time.

“Hold me,” I said, laughing and acting like a total baby. I wrapped my legs around his waist, and he cupped my arse.

He stared at me. “Tell me again,” he whispered.

“I love you, Jacob with all the names. I know it’s soon; I know we’re having a baby, and I know we’ve done everything arse about face, but I love you.” I shrugged my shoulders.

He smiled and kissed the tip of my nose.

“Now, I need to pee again, and I don’t suppose you, or the fish, would appreciate me doing that in your lovely pool.”

“I don’t know, a golden shower isn’t it called?”

“I would have no idea, Jacob,” I said, as he walked us to the edge and sat me back on the rock.

Naked, and carrying our clothes, we walked back to the house. I prayed he didn’t have staff working over the weekend.

“No one here but us. I told you, I like my privacy,” he said, watching me constantly look around us.
