Jackson had plated the steaks and gestured for me tosit.

“I have money, Summer. I will keep us going. You use that for studies orwhatever.”

“I want to pay myway.”

He shook his head as he ate. “Don’t emasculate me.” Hesmirked.

“I thought you said Neanderthal wasn’t due justyet?”

“Yeah, well. He made an early return. I have money. Once we find you some courses, we’ll sort out a car foryou.”

“I can driveyours.”

“You cannot drive mine. That is a classic, and mine; all mine. And anyway, what do I do if I need to go out? Or I can pick you up each day. We’ll look like something from a fiftiesmovies.”

“I’ll be the oldest in the course, Iimagine.”

“I doubt it. Now, are you eating that?” He pointed over to mysteak.

“Yes, go grill another if you’re stillhungry.”

He huffed and winked as he stood. I watched Neanderthal wash up and dry the dishes, and I laughed. Jackson was about the most considerate, caring man Iknew.
