“Yeah, I’ll be along later. I have some things to talkabout.”
“Okay, I’ll be at the bar all day, we should get the paperwork for the drop-in centresoon.”
“Sounds good, I’ll see youlater.”
“Morning,” I heard. Summer was walking towards me. I smiled over ather.
“Want a coffee?” Iasked.
“No, tea would be good, though. I can getit.”
“Take advantage of my domestic skills while you can. I’m sure I’ll turn into Neanderthal man soon enough and expect to be waitedon.”
She laughed as she passed, slapping my shoulder. I rose from the bed and joined her in the kitchen. I poured a coffee while she filled the kettle. She placed her hand on my back as she reached up and over my shoulder for a mug. As she made her tea, I planted a kiss on her temple before taking my coffee backoutside.
“I need to go the bar in a bit, I have a session with Dexter,” I said when she joinedme.
“Can Icome?”
“Sure, not in the session though. You’ll have to wait in thebar.”
“What do you talk about? I guess I shouldn’t ask really, shouldI?”
“Anything, everything, whatever’s on mymind.”
“Do you talk aboutus?”
“Yeah.”
“Will you be open with me aswell?”
“As much as I can be. Sometimes I have to talk it out with Dex first, so I get my feelingsstraight.”
She smiled at me. “I love you,Jack.”

Icranked up the music,Black Sabbath’sParanoidblasted through the car as we headed to the bar. From the corner of my eye, I watched her hair blow in the wind and she rested her feet on the dash. She nodded her head along, she looked happy and I laughed. I sang at the top of my voice as she pretended to play theguitar.
Dexter’s smile was broad as we walked in. I had my arm slung around hershoulders.
“How are you both?” heasked.
“Good,” we both said at the same time and thenlaughed.
“Let’s not do that, no being ‘in sync.’ We’ll be wearing matching clothes next,” Isaid.
“Yeah, I can just see you in mypanties.”
“Sshh, he’ll have me locked up,” I said, nodding towardsDex.
“In the back, you. Summer, do you want to take a look next door? See what we’ve done sofar?”
“That would be great, thankyou.”
He handed her the keys, and I gave her a wink before I headed to the saferoom.
Dexter closed the door behind me. “That’s a smile I haven’t seen in a while,” hesaid.
