“Clear it,” hesaid.
“No. If I can, I will,obviously.”
“You are impossible,sometimes.”
“And that’s why you loveme.”
I leaned over and kissed his cheek. Mackenzie was too used to getting his own way and, sometimes, I liked to keep that incheck.
We were still finding our balance, he’d been on his own for so long and I hadn’t been. He liked to control and I was independent. It made for some interesting times. Unless we were in the bedroom…I was more than happy to concede to himthere.
While he took yet another call; I pulled out my phone and checked on some emails. I was hoping for details of the restaurant Alex had recommended. I also needed to think about Mackenzie’s birthday. Although some months away, he wasn’t going to be the easiest to buy a giftfor.
Perhaps an ‘event’ would be a better choice. Only, what type of event to plan for a man who owned the most exclusive sex club in the country, and who had probably tried most things himself? An image came to mind. I’d seen a man tie a woman so intricately it was almost art. Mackenzie would never allow me to restrain him, but perhaps we could take lessons. I wondered how to word the Google search and silently chuckled at the thought someone, sometime, could check my search history. Good old ‘Ice QueenLauren’ had a browser full of providers of sex toys, sexual positions, andBDSM.
Finally, Mackenzie switched off his phone. He slipped it into his pocket and rested back into the seat. He loosened his tie, and I knew he was, for the moment anyway, officially, out ofwork.
“You look tired,” I said, taking hold of hishand.
“I feel tired today. Like I said, I didn’t get a great deal of sleep last night,” he replied with asmirk.
“Maybe an early night is inorder.”
“I have a few things to organise, but I like thatidea.”
“Organise? Anything I can help with?” Iasked.
He turned to me. “Just a tick off my list, Miss Perry,” hereplied.
“Will I get to see your list?” I found my heart had started to race at thethought.
“Lauren, you will get to see my list, one item at a time, as and when I decide,” he said, without worrying about Daveoverhearing.
“What if I don’t like it?” Ichallenged.
“I know you will.” His tone of voice gave no room for discussion or disagreement. I liked that about him…sometimes.
