“Did you seriously go from poultry to sultry in two seconds flat? What makes me so special?”

For a second, he’s silent. Then the table shakes, and a deep belly laugh rumbles from his body. “And apparently, you’re not afraid to call me on my shit.”

“You’re damn straight I will,” I retort, joining in the laughter.

“I’m gonna hold you to that,” he quips.

Once I catch my breath, I lean forward on my elbows as well. “Seriously though, you barely know me. You don’t even know what I do for a living.”

“Nope—not going there. We both agreed to do things outside of our normal days. Work constitutes a daily task. We’re both on me-cations. No work or anything work related today. I want to get to know you—the real you—not the you people perceive you as.”

“Okay—so tell me this—what do you want to talk about if we aren’t allowed to talk about work or daily routines?”

“For starters—you can tell me about the last time you did something for you and only you?”

I think about this for a long moment, then I throw my hands in the air and admit, “Holy shit. I have no idea.”

“Tell me this—when was the last time you went on a date?”

I look to the sky, hoping for some divine intervention—that’s even been longer. “Uh… let’s just say it’s been awhile. Hell, I wouldn’t even know what to do on a date.”

Davis raises a brow. “Uh… you seem to be doing just fine today.”

Wait… This is a date?

Holy shit.

He’s right.

I’m so freaking out of the game, I haven’t even recognized I’m on a date.

I need to get out more.

He must read the deer-in-headlights expression on my face when he suddenly cringes. “Did I… uh… read this wrong? I’ve enjoyed getting to know you and have been thinking of ways to keep my time with you from ending.”

“No… I’m enjoying our time together. I’m just rusty… and apparently, I have zero game.”

“So, you agree—this is a date?” he hedges in challenge.

I guess my dirty thoughts have been appropriate. He does think of me as a date. Maybe I haven’t lost it after all?

Davis’s grin is wide when he drawls out, “Oh, Teagan, you should wait until we’re alone before voicing those thoughts… I can’t wait to hear what they are.”

“Holy shit, I said that aloud.”

Teagan’s faceturns brighter than an overripe tomato. Now that I know she’s having dirty thoughts about me, I don’t feel nearly as bad for thinking them in return. Hell, she’s held my attention since I spotted her on our run this morning, and I have no intention of letting our time together end anytime soon.

Thankfully, she can’t respond because our waitress returns with our meal, and we’re both suddenly busy eating the delicious food. Everything today has been so fun and easy with Teagan, but I wonder if I took things too far with that comment. When she breaks the silence, I know things are good between us.

“You know, you’re in luck. If we’re only doing things out of our ordinary day today, a date is definitely on that list. I can’t wait to see what we do next.”

“We’ll manage something,” I assure her, as I fork an asparagus spear before taking another bite. “There’s gotta be something in this town we haven’t done in a while.”

Tipping her head to the side, she asks, “You mean like eating a meal in a room filled with thousands of cocks is ordinary for you?”

I nearly spit my drink in her face as her long lashes blink at me in feign innocence. “I can say with certainty, this is the most I’ve ever been around.” Teagan may feel rusty, but this woman is a vixen, and I like it.

As we leave the restaurant, Teagan insists we stop to take a photo with a giant cock between us. The thing is taller than she is and rivals me. Our laughter never stops as our waitress takes photos with our phones. Once she returns our phones, I pull Teagan to my side. As she stares into my eyes, I want nothing more than to kiss her. But before I can make a move, another couple walks in and our moment is lost.
