Her laughter fills the room. “I could’ve walked.”
“But then your sweet naked body wouldn’t be clinging to mine and where’s the fun in that?”
The next thing I know, she bites down on my shoulder and sucks.
Not only does she shock the hell out of me, but my dick could now pound nails thanks to her. “Hey now.”
“Hey now, yourself. Put me down, you big ox. Let me dry off, then you can have your way with me.”
I do as she requests, but still feel the need to mutter, “Promises, promises,” as I hand her one of the towels I grabbed along the way.
Slowly the temptress she is draws a towel up each leg. When she’s dried to her satisfaction, she almost wraps the towel around her body, but hesitates. “I guess there’s no use in covering up when all I want is this.”
I can’t even take a breath before she closes the distance between us and my towel is long forgotten.
“I… uh, may be out of practice, but I have to admit. I love the things you do to me, Damien.” With that, she reaches up and kisses me.
Words no longer need to be spoken, as our bodies speak for themselves. Her tongue dances with mine as her breasts press into my chest. This woman makes me feel things that have been dormant for years. I may only have a few hours, but one thing is certain. I’m nowhere close for my time with Vanessa to end.

After spendingthe weekend with Damien, it’s been hard as hell snapping back to reality. With finals next week, I’ve stretched myself thin between studying, picking up a few shifts to cover for my coworkers, and staying up way later than I should, talking with Damien.
Late-night video chats have nothing on the real thing. But with Julia being in bed early, I don’t have any other option. Damien’s come over a few times but when Julia’s witching hour approaches, he usually leaves, so I can get her to bed without distractions.
He’s learning firsthand just how temperamental five year olds can be. One minute, she’s sweet as can be, then the next, she may as well grow horns for as ornery as she becomes. I swear one minute, she worships the ground he walks on; the next, she’s crabby and demanding—especially when she’s exhausted in the evenings.
I almost died the other night when I walked Damien to his car to say goodbye. Of course, it was so I could kiss him one last time—without an audience. But Julia didn’t know that. Nope. My stinker of a child just opened the door and shouted for the entire neighborhood to hear, “Go home, Dame! We don’t want ya! Momma needs to come inside, and you need to leave!”
Thankfully, Vince intervened and stopped her from shouting more, but I could barely look at Damien to see his response. When I tried to apologize to him—he wouldn’t hear anything of it. He simply said, “Stop. She’s tired, and you have no control over what she says and thinks.”
“But…” I start, but he placed a finger over my lips. “But nothing. Give me a kiss goodnight, and I’ll be on my way.”
He then proceeded to kiss the argument right out of me.
Why he keeps coming around is beyond me—especially when she’s being a giant turd. I’m surprised the crazy man just smiles and rolls with it.
I’m thankful for the weekend because I get to spend more time with Damien as well as my friends. I’m just getting off the morning shift, and everyone will be here this afternoon for Abby and Drew’s farewell party. Even on his day off, Damien pops into the diner for breakfast. His counters should be installed this morning, so I wonder if he’ll eat more at home in the mornings.
Pulling into the garage, I can smell the delicious aroma of baked goods coming from the kitchen. Sydney worked last night, but she must’ve gotten up early to be ready for the party this evening.
“Hey, Van.” Sydney smiles as she pulls a pan of cookies out of the oven when I enter the kitchen. “How was work?”
“It was good. Where’s Vince and Jules?” I ask, looking around when I realize the house is way too quiet.
“Oh, they’re at the store picking up propane for the grill. We thought there’d be enough, but you know your brother… He likes to be prepared. Besides, it’s not like we won’t use it this summer.”
Vince has already mowed the yard a few days ago. He’s also pulled out the extra lawn chairs we store in the attic for the winter.
“You okay?” Sydney asks, pulling me out of my head.
“Yeah…” I say on a sigh. “Just thinking about Mom and Dad—and how Mom insisted on getting the patio furniture. I’m happy Vince and I get to entertain like she would’ve wanted with it. How many people do you think will show this afternoon?”
“I honestly don’t know. I know Chloe, Abby, Drew, and his roommates DeShawn and Grey for sure. Abby mentioned her friend from class might show as well as a few of Drew’s other teammates who want to wish him well. He’s promised they won’t let things get out of hand. He mainly just wants to chill and visit with those he won’t see for a while—now that they’re moving across the country. God, I’m gonna miss Abby.” Sydney ends with a sigh.
“I know. But it’s not like you won’t ever see her again. Thank God, we live in the age of video chatting and cheap flights.”
