Vanessa

I wouldn’t sayI get much sleep with Damien. After eating pizza in only my underwear and a t-shirt he lets me borrow, it doesn’t take long until he’s ready to devour me again. I have no freaking clue what he does to me, but he is like a drug I can’t get high enough on.

I must have dozed off again because when I wake up, I find the sun is up and the bed empty. In Damien’s place, I find a note on the pillow.

Morning Beautiful,

Went to grab breakfast. Hopefully, I’ll be back before you wake. If not, make yourself at home. Rumor has it I have a tub you claimed you wanted to get lost in.

That’s exactly where Damien finds me when he returns. After washing my hair, I get lost in his ginormous tub. It’s so big I can float and not touch the sides. I’ve never been in so much space. I have music playing on my phone, so I don’t hear him when he enters the bathroom.

“Well… that’s certainly something I don’t come home to every day.” His words bring me out of my hypnotic state.

“Ahhhh!” I scream as I bolt to an upright position. Water splashes everywhere, but thankfully, it stays in the tub. “You scared me.”

“Uh, you left the door open… and I did knock.” Damien somehow manages to look me directly in the eye.

Pulling my knees to my chest, I sigh. “This tub is amazing. I can’t remember the last time I soaked without interruption. Or have ever been in anything so big.”

“Doesn’t this count as an interruption?” He points between the two of us as he cocks a brow in my direction.

“Uh… it’s your house,” I offer in explanation.

“I’ll make you a deal. I’ll wait for you in the living room. Take your time. Then if you’d like, we can go do something.”

“I’m fine with staying here,” I offer. “I don’t need to be entertained.”

“I know that, Van. But if we stay here, I’m gonna want to join you. Then if I join you, I’m gonna have to taste you. If I taste you, I know we’re never gonna leave.” By the end, his smile is crooked and downright sinful.

“Then you’d better scat, and I’ll finish up in here. I don’t want to make this any harder on you than necessary. Do you mind if I borrow another one of your shirts to wear until we can stop by my place to change my clothes?”

“You can borrow anything you’d like,” he offers. “I’ll be in the living room. I’ve got some coffee and some pastries from the local bakery down the street. I figured you’d rather not eat at my usual place, as it’s your day off.”

“You figure right. Are you gonna make me let this water get cold? Or are you gonna go wait in the living room?” I tease.

“It’s not like I haven’t seen it all before, Van. If I recall, you quite liked it when I tasted every square inch of you.”

If that’s how he wants to play, two can play this game.

A surge of boldness rushes through me as I lift my chin along with my entire body from the water as I stare directly into Damien’s wide eyes. His jaw drops as I reach for my towel and step from the tub. Bending at the waist, I start at my toes and dry myself off like I would without anyone watching. I rise slowly, toweling off along the way. Wanting to put on more of a show for the stunned man before me, I quickly wipe off my chest and arms, then flip the towel to my backside to dry off my back. Then to prove a point, I flip my hair over my head and wrap my head, then stand to my full height.

“As Jack would say, you’re gonna catch some flies if you don’t close that mouth of yours,” I tease.

I have no idea where this brazen woman inside me came from, but the look of appreciation I see on his face has my inner critic cheering myself on. Confidently, I walk to him and ask, “See something ya like?”

Damien’s tone is clipped as he says, “Vanessa, you’re gonna be the death of me. I’m trying so fucking hard to do the right thing here. But you’re making it… really difficult.”

“It’s your own fault, mister. You’re the one standing there enjoying the show, when you could be eating pastries and drinking coffee. We both know how much you need to consume to make it through the day.”

“I enjoy the view no matter the location—though this takes the cake if I’m being honest. There’s no way I’m walking away when the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen is flaunting all her goods. I may not be the smartest man in the world, but I’m not dumb enough to ignore this either. For the record, this might be my favorite memory in this house.” Damien smirks, then adds, “By the way, did you ever think I might drink that much coffee each day to keep talking to you?”

How the hell is he keeping casual conversation like this? I’m standing here as naked as the day I was born… and he’s talking about coffee?

As my need for him grows, I’m forced to make a decision.

Feeling bold and empowered by the confidence Damien gives me, I rip the towel from my hair and let it drop to the floor between us. I take the necessary step toward him to close the distance as I reach for the fly of his jeans and pull him close.
