Releasing the nipple with a final lick, he kissed his way over to the other, his lips sliding over her wet skin. Her fingers were kneading his scalp, reminding him of a kitten and a low rumbling purr suddenly erupted from his throat.
Her fingers moved to his shoulders, massaging, and Jace moved his hand around to tap her feet, letting her know he wanted her to release him. When she did, he set her down carefully, making sure she had her balance. When she looked up at him with passion-filled, heavy-lidded eyes, her lips parted as she panted, he nearly groaned. An aroused Paige was the sexiest thing he’d ever seen. Cupping her cheeks, he kissed her passionately before he pulled back. His voice was gruff and growly when he told her, “I want to love you. Let me.”
Kneeling in front of her as the water pounded down around them, he let his hands trace gently over the sleek curves of her body. The flat planes of her stomach, her smoothly rounded hips, the lithe length of her inner thighs. He inhaled deeply. She smelled incredible. Heat, arousal, her…
Paige shot a hand out, splaying her fingers on the slick shower walls for balance as her head tipped back with a gasp of pleasure. Jace palmed her hips, holding her in place as he leaned in and found that swollen bundle of nerves at the apex of her core with his tongue.
The cry that was wrung from her throat was harsh and made his cock jerk in response. He couldn’t hold back his snarl or his need. He was hungry for the taste of her and needed more of it. Burying his face between her legs, he devoured her. His tongue flicked against her, his lips suckled, and Paige gasped and moaned in response as she gripped his head hard and held him to her, breathlessly chanting his name.
Paige screamed when the orgasm hit, her back bowing with it, and Jace lost any semblance of reason. With a roar, he surged to his feet, picked her up into his arms, and thrust into the hot, pulsing, wetness that welcomed him home.
Pressing her against the wall, his hips thrust rhythmically while his mouth latched onto hers with greedy abandon. As the most intense orgasm he’d ever had rocked through him, one thought filled his mind. His. She was his.
Chapter Ten
AsPaigelayonthe bed where Jace had placed her after carrying her from the bathroom, her limbs felt like overcooked spaghetti while a sweet ache between her legs had her lips curling with a satisfied smile. Incredible. Talk about getting her world rocked.
Her stomach let out an angry protest reminding her that she hadn’t eaten and Paige groaned. She just wanted to lay here and bask in the glory of sexual satisfaction, not have to get up and get dressed again. But a nice juicy steak was calling her name…
Leaning over her, Jace kissed her belly. “Want me to see if they deliver?”
“Oh, God, yes.”
Jace’s chuckle was decidedly naughty. “I do like those words on your lips.”
As she recalled how many times she’d said those very words in the shower, her cheeks heated, but not with embarrassment. Just thinking about that mind-blowing experience had her body eager to go again. Jace was addicting. He was also not helping the situation by strolling around the room gloriously naked as he made the call.
“They do,” he informed her, and it took Paige a moment to come out of the Jace-is-so-sexy trance to realize what he was talking about. Food delivery. Right.
As she placed her order for a filet with baked potato and extra sour cream her mouth began to water. God, she was so hungry. Jace had plenty of food in the van but it was all road-trip food – items that could be eaten while driving – snack food. The lack of variation got old quickly.
“About twenty minutes,” he told her as he flopped down on the bed beside her.
His fingers stroked her hair, pushing a lock behind her ear. “How is it you have no man in your life?”
She didn’t, but she wondered how he was so sure of that fact.
As if he’d read her mind, he said, “I was in your apartment. It’s too small for a couple. Nor were there any masculine clothes in your closet or any other male scents lingering aside from the guards I fought.”
Wow. He hadn’t exactly been in her apartment long or had time to snoop, yet he’d deciphered her relationship status with ease. That was quite the skill.
“I was in a long-term relationship until last year. We met at university, started dating, and eventually moved in together.”
Jace nodded. “What happened last year?”
“Grady died.”
When Jace shot her a look of sympathy, she cleared her throat. “I needed to be with my parents. My mom,” she shook her head sadly. “She took his death really hard.”
“Understandable. He went with you?”
“No. He was never really comfortable around my dad and he didn’t want me to go. Said I’d fuck up my career for something my dad should be handling, not me. We argued.”
Looking down at the bedspread, she plucked at the covers. “I told Michael that I needed a break.” Her eyes flicked up to his. “He thought it was the grief talking, so he agreed, sure that after I spent some time away I’d change my mind.”
“You didn’t?”
Paige shook her head. “One day I realized that almost a week had gone by without us even speaking on the phone and I didn’t miss him. I should have. I should have missed him, or maybe been upset that he hadn’t even tried to call but I wasn’t. And that’s when I realized that we weren’t together because of some great love, but because it was convenient. We were both busy with work, and never made any demands on each other.” She shrugged. “When it came right down to it, we were roommates with benefits.”
