I think that went well? Rogers said he would be in touch, which has to mean I didn’t scare him off.I think we could do great things together. That’s what he said. Even when I try to come up with a worst case scenario, those words have to mean good things. And I have Benson to thank for the good outcome, since there’s no way I could have convinced Rogers on my own. Not when I ran out of stuff to say so quickly.

I grab my phone, still a little dazed by what just happened.

Avery:

Do you remember me telling you about that investor Eric has been trying to get? Phillip Rogers?

Dani:

I think so?

Avery:

I think I just convinced him to invest with R&Q…

Dani:

That’s huge!!!

Avery:

I’m not sure it’s real. Eric is bleeding in the bathroom, and I only had a few minutes to convince Rogers to be interested.

Dani:

I’m sorry… What?

Avery:

Oh, right. I might have broken Eric’s nose.

Dani:

It’s about time! But also, what happened? And please tell me you have video!

Mason also wants video.

Avery:

No there’s not video! It was an accident! And that’s not what’s important here. *I* convinced Rogers to invest. ME!

I frown as I read the message I sent. That’s not true. Yeah, Eric wasn’t here to throw out facts and figures like he usually is, butthat doesn’t mean I can credit this win entirely to myself. Not when I would have floundered without…

Dani’s next text pops up.

Dani:

Fine, but please know that the next time it happens, I expect video or to be present for the event.

But focusing back on Rogers, that’s amazing! Tell me everything! How did you do it?

Avery:

It’s not going to happen again. I know you don’t like Eric, but he’s still my business partner. As for Rogers… It wasn’t just me.

Benson helped.

And a feeling deep in my gut tells me that the two of us working more closely together might be a good thing. Which means I might be in trouble.
