Chapter 4
Ateacher’s work wasnever done, especially for someone new to both the town and district. Levi kept in touch with Knox despite the overload—texting quick, friendly messages through the day and evening. The sweet bear understood his predicament as he, too, was swamped with repair work and projects. By Friday evening Levi knew he couldn’t see Knox over the weekend without being creative. It didn’t take long to come up with an idea.
> How’s tomorrow afternoon around two o’clock looking for you?
> I’m flexible. I bet you are, too.
Levi’s dick twitched, but he decided to ignore the double entendre for now.
> I thought maybe you could run into me on purpose while I do my grocery shopping.
> Sounds like a plan. Where?
> Wallen Market off of route six. I’ll meet you inside, near the Deli.
> Can’t wait! Been missing you :(
> Me, too. See you soon.
The exchange left Levi smiling for the rest of the evening, working steadily until well after ten. Too tired for more, he downed a quick snack and then dressed for bed. Inevitably, Knox’s teasing about being flexible filled his mind, even as he tried to relax. Was the man trying to be funny, or was there a message? In a way, it didn’t matter because the thought of making love with someone like Knox got him all worked up.
Levi wasn’t attracted to men who looked like him—short, slim, and almost hairless. No, he wanted to be overwhelmed by a big, hairy brute and feel it the next day. Knox fit his ideal of a sexy man, bear or not, but the idea that he could turn into a powerful forest-dweller was a turn-on of its own. Levi gave in to temptation and reached for the lube, slicking up his cock. His other hand reached up to tweak a pale nipple while imagining Knox’s big hands all over him.
He’d denied himself all week and now raced towards the finish line, wondering how Knox’s muscular, hirsute body would feel rasping against his smooth skin. Quickening his strokes, Levi chased the orgasm until his body twitched with powerful contractions, leaving spunk all over his stomach and chest. A few final tugs wrung the last of it from his nuts, and he sagged against the mattress to catch his breath.
Wow! If this was how his body reacted to afantasy, what would real sex with Knox be like? No one, including his ex, had ever inspired such an intense orgasm and, he realized he’d been missing out. Levi cleaned himself off, determined to take it slow with Knox and see what happened. Keeping his hands off the bear shifter might be difficult, but he refused to jump into a relationship too soon. Surely, he could manage that, right?

The next day
Covered with sawdust and sweat, Knox left his workshop in a hurry for the cabin. At home, he was accustomed to keeping his own hours and ignoring the time. Obviously, he’d need to pay more attention to the clock if he were going to win Levi over. Determined to impress the man, he got himself washed, groomed and dressed in fresh clothing. Though Levi would undoubtedly go through downtown Bear Creek, Knox used a different route to bypass shoppers and stoplights.
He arrived at the market with ten minutes to spare, hoping Levi wasn’t already waiting for him. Knox detected no trace of the man’s distinctive fragrance, inside or out. Near the Deli, he stationed himself to get a good view of the main entrance and settled in to wait.
He hadn’t seen Levi forthree days, leaving his bear grumpy. Knox warned his other half not to jump him, lick him all over, or do anything else to scare the precious human. He and Levi were on good terms—at ease but very much aware of one another on a deeper level. He hoped so anyway because Knox already knew he wanted so much more.
As planned, he spotted Levi when he walked in, looking even better than the last time. Instead of his fancier work clothes, Levi wore a tight blue t-shirt and a pair of dark jeans. They hugged his slim frame perfectly, and Knox swallowed a lusty growl as the human walked right up to him with a wide smile.
Knox stepped closer to scent him, drawing in a deep lungful of Levi’s aroma. The bouquet included the man’s actual scent plus the odor of soaps, laundry detergent, and even the coffee on his breath. Additional layers smelled of his jeep, the outdoors, and human pheromones that revealed Levi was happy to see him. Good, because Knox felt the same. He backed away slightly and examined his handsome face, light traces of blondish whiskers on his upper lip and chin. Levi’s blue eyes, much lighter than Knox’s own, reminded him of a clear summer sky.
“You lookgreat, and I love how you smell. It was a good idea to meet here.”
Levi blushed. He wasn’t used to genuine compliments, and Knox’s deep rumbly voice got his motor going. For some reason, the man took another deep sniff, resulting in a knowing grin.
