“When I lift the gate, simply follow the road. It ends in a parking lot, and there is a building on the right with glass doors. Doctor Follett lives right here on the Preserve. She and Ben will meet you there. Not to worry, Mr. Wilson. I’m sure Jonah will be fine.”

The gates rose, and RJ navigated the narrow, winding road. It didn’t allow for much speed, but the guard didn’t seem particularly worried about any kind of delay. It seemed strange that Jonah’s doctor also lived here, though it made him feel better knowing he would receive care even sooner. Jonah tossed and turned in the back seat, calling out for his “mate” to help him. What did he mean?

“We’re almost there, Jo. You’re going to be OK.”

Jonah stilled, eyes unfocused and glassy.

“Rascal! Don’t leave me. I need you!Pleeeease!”

RJ’s heart skipped a beat at the mournful pleading. He wouldn’t go anywhere until he knew Jonah was all right. After one final curve, the road opened up to the promised parking lot. On the right, three people stood waiting for him. He stopped the car and got out, uncertain who was who, though the woman must be the doctor mentioned at the gate. She went straight over to open the car door and check on Jonah. The other two, a young-looking blond and a big guy with longish dark hair, approached with smiles.

“Hello, RJ. I’m Ben Blair, Jonah’s brother. This is my ma..., uh, husband, Evan.”

RJ shook both their hands

“Pleased to meet you. I don’t mean to be rude, but is Jonah going to be all right?”

Ben glanced sideways at Evan and answered the question.

“Jonah suffers from a rare disorder and comes down with a fever several times a year. It always goes away after a few days, but it has an odd side effect. Why don’t we get him home, and I’ll let Doctor Follett and Evan explain it to you. Would you like me to carry him?”

“NO! I... I’ll do it.”

Evan opened the mind-link, speaking to Ben as RJ returned to the car to gather Jonah in his arms.

“They’ve been intimate, and he’s protective of Jonah. Those are good signs that the bonding process is underway. I don’t think he’s quite ready for the truth, though. Let’s continue as planned.”

“All right, babe. I trust your judgment. I’ll be at home if you need me.”

When they reached Ben and Evan’s front door, Ben excused himself.

“Forgive me, RJ, but it’s time to put the kids to bed. I’d like to invite you to join us for supper sometime next week—after Jonah’s feeling better, of course.”

The others continued on their way towards The Village. Unaware of his surroundings, Jonah plastered himself against his mate, whimpering pathetically and grinding his hard dick against RJ’s body. Unsure what to do, he made attempts to soothe and quiet the man. Donna spoke up to reassure him.

“I’m Doctor Follett, but please call me Donna. We appreciate you taking care of Jonah so well. He’ll find your voice and presence comforting.”

RJ wasn’t sure what to make of all this. The whole thing seemed odd, but since they appeared to be unconcerned, he went along with it. He’d never carried a full-grown man this far before, and Jonah’s wriggling made the task more difficult. Fortunately, he spotted a collection of mobile homes up ahead. Evan explained where they were going.

“This area is called The Village, and Jonah lives in the one on the far end. Let’s get him inside, and then we’ll answer your questions.”

There was important work to do before Jonah and his mate could be left alone for the night. Evan hurriedly explained the plan to Donna before the couple arrived, confident it would work. He went in first to turn on the lights while Donna held the door open for RJ. Evan led the way to the bedroom and pulled back the covers. RJ tried to lay his burden down, but Jonah clung to his mate with pleas not to be left alone. RJ sat on the bed, cradling him in his arms, and gave Donna a sharp look.

“What’s going on? This isn’t normal for someone with a fever, is it? I don’t understand!”

Donna and Evan squatted on the floor next to the bed so they weren’t standing over him. As she prepared to explain, Evan extended his power of influence into RJ’s troubled mind. If all went well, he would believe what they told himanddo as they asked without question.

“I’m sorry for the confusion, RJ. Jonah’s condition is rare, and he is both fragile and needy while feverish. His sex drive is temporarily affected, creating bouts of intense lust that his partner must satisfy. When the fever-lust fades, he will fall into a deep sleep. I suggest you rest at the same time. When he wakes up, he’ll be lucid for up to two hours.

“Never leave him alone for long, and make sure he uses the bathroom, gets a shower, and enjoys a large meal and plenty of water. After this, the cycle will start over again and repeat itself for up to four days. It would be best for you to call in for some time off work, as Jonah needs you to stay with him.”

Jonah suddenly reached into RJ’s sweat pants for a grope, leaving him embarrassed and uncomfortable. He managed to settle him down again, chest to chest with Jonah’s head resting on his shoulder. When RJ’s expression became unnaturally calm, Donna assumed that Evan intervened and blurred the memory. Despite the kerfuffle, he asked a reasonable question.

“Four days of sex? Is that even possible?”

Donna gave him a reassuring smile.

“If your body won’t cooperate, there is a box under the bed with various toys. Before Jonah met you, he used them to get through the fevers on his own. You may also use your hands or mouth to satisfy him, but he will crave anal stimulation. If you run out of ideas, he will tell you exactly what he needs.”
