“Don’t be afraid, Jonah. I want you to touch me.”

A breathyohescaped Jonah’s lips, along with a soft growl. He slapped a free hand over his mouth with a guilty expression.

“Sorry. Bad habit.”

RJ smiled and released Jonah’s hand.

“Damn! If you keep doing that, we’ll have to skip supper.”

Jonah blushed hotly, warning bells going off in his head. Time to get out of here before he went too far.

“Supper! Right. Shall we go? Who’s driving?”

RJ reluctantly motioned towards the door.

“You lock up. I’ll drive this time.”

Jonah flicked off the lights, followed him out, and turned to secure the building. Like a true gentleman, RJ darted ahead to unlock and open the door for him.

“Watch your step. It’s kind of high.”

Jonah got in, flashing RJ a great view of his ass, and watched the man go around the vehicle while he belted up. His mate looked delicious in western wear, and he loved the idea of having his very own musclebound cowboy. His wolf wanted to truss him up go for a long, hard ride. Mmmm... Jonah liked the idea, only not here and now!

RJ’s scent hung heavy in the cab’s air: reassuring, enticing, comfortable. One close call already, and they weren’t even underway yet! And what about him driving “this time”? Was he planning another date? Jonah sure hoped so.

RJ hopped in and cranked up the air conditioning before they both got sweaty. Typically, he preferred to roll the windows down, but that would be too noisy on the highway, and he wanted to talk to Jonah on the way.

“How was your day? Busy?”

Jonah reminded himself to be careful with his words.

“Nothing too exciting and not terribly busy. The LRC is keeping a close eye on Senator Hawthorne of Minnesota. He’s been pushing to allow for the hunting of wolves and relaxing some of their other protections. I’m working on an audio-visual presentation to help counter his rhetoric. When it’s done, we’ll send it out to the media and our usual supporters to make sure he fails.”

RJ was impressed, not realizing the LRC’s involvement in the political side of things.

“That’s important work. I’m glad somebody is fighting to protect them. I’d love to see the finished presentation sometime.”

The comment pleased Jonah and his wolf.

“Sure! I should have it wrapped up in another week or two, and we can watch it together. So, have you ever seen wolves in their natural habitat?”

RJ arrived at the highway on-ramp and accelerated, and after settling into his lane, reached across the center console for Jonah’s hand. Jonah took it, enjoying the skin-to-skin connection, and his overeager penis hardened like concrete.

“I’ve only seen wolves in a zoo or on film. My new co-workers have told me stories, and I’ve seen paw prints and evidence of their kills. I guess I haven’t been in the right place at the right time yet.”

RJ went on to talk about his busy day while they made the quick trip south. A few minutes later, they exited the highway and found Giuseppe’s without any trouble. The lot wasn’t full on a Thursday night, and RJ snagged a parking space near the main entrance. Jonah sensed he was supposed to wait, sitting still until RJ came around to open the door. It wasn’t patronizing or posturing on RJ’s part; he’d simply learned good manners—ones long forgotten by most of society.

As they approached the door, RJ opened it for Jonah and guided him through with a hand across his lower back. Jonah’s wolf loved the possessive gesture—one befitting a proper mate. Jonah agreed with him, sorry when RJ broke the contact moments later. A cute young man with a small rainbow pin on his collar greeted them with a wide smile.

“Welcome to Giuseppe’s. Table for two?”

RJ nodded.

“I have a reservation under Wilson.”

“Oh, yes. I picked out a quiet, discreet table for you as requested. This way, gentlemen.”

RJ stepped back, allowing Jonah to go first as they followed their greeter to an out-of-the-way spot with no other diners nearby. RJ pulled out Jonah’s chair, causing another blush, and then sat opposite him. They were both handed menus and appraised of the evening special.
