Chapter 46

WEDNESDAY, NOON

Always prompt, RJ arrived at the LRC office at eleven fifty-five for lunch with his mate. One minute later, they were snogging in Jonah’s office while growling bellies reminded them of their gastronomic appointment. Robyn chose to eat out today, giving the newlymates a chance to enjoy a few minutes alone. On her way out, she paused outside the closed office door to scent and listen. They’d have no trouble detecting the grin in her voice.

“You only have ahalf-hour, boys, and no sex in the breakroom!”

Seconds later, Jonah swallowed RJ’s enormous load without getting a drop on his work pants. He always enjoyed sucking off his mate—even hotter with the man in full uniform. RJ tucked the bad boy away while Jonah stood, savoring his appetizer.

“I missed you, Rascal! Let’s go eat, and you can tell me about your day.”

A dazed RJ followed Jonah into the breakroom, where they set up lunch and sat down to eat and talk. Jonah asked about RJ’s meeting with his boss, Glen Toomey.

“Did you get in trouble for calling in last week?”

“Not at all. Hedidask about my change of address, so I told him I would be living with you on the Preserve, and he seemed happy for us. Then he explained my new schedule and responsibilities. My hours and days off will be a mixed bag, and we won’t always have weekends off together.”

Jonah wasn’t happy about it, but he knew all DNR agents worked crazy shifts. They’d figure out a way to maximize their time together, and it helped that his own schedule was predictable. Jonah reached for RJ’s hand.

“Two things will make it easier for me: call if you expect to be late, and stop by to see me when you happen to be in town. I’ll worry less, and seeing you makes me and my wolf happy.”

“Fair enough. Just so you know, I think I’m addicted to you and don’t like being separated all day. Weird, huh?”

Jonah hastily wiped his mouth and straddled RJ’s warm lap. He wore a brilliant, excited smile.

“Not at all. It means our bond is getting stronger! Soon, you’ll start to notice your senses changing and be able to read me and others better. I’ve been waiting for this!”

Jonah poured his enthusiasm into passionate kisses, growling and grinding against his mate. RJ couldn’t miss Jonah’s throbbing erection, pressed against his own reawakening cock. Time for some pleasant payback.

“We have seven minutes, Jo. Drop your pants and get up on the table.”

Jonah hurried to obey, laying back on full display like a delicious dessert. RJ got busy stroking and sucking with fervor, tugging on his mate’s heavy, loose balls. With two minutes to spare, Jonah reached la la land, abs convulsing with each jet of fragrant cum. RJ drank it down, gave the deflating dick a final kiss, and helped straighten up the break room before time ran out. He bade Jonah goodbye and exited the building as Robyn returned.

Jonah was furiously scrubbing down the table when she walked up to lean against the door frame with a knowing smirk.

“Hmm... you two must be fast. Has Robert been coaching you on the whole food-sex combo? Nutrition and emission in one fell swoop. I’ll have to read that chapter if it’s in his next book.”

Robyn laughed, leaving her gaping, red-faced friend behind as she went back to work.

ADAM SHEPPARD SET ASIDEhis notes for the upcoming council meeting. They were to discuss the aftermath of the Gladstone threat and what it meant for shifters everywhere, but he feared nothing wouldchangeas a result. After speaking to all three True Elders, he agreed Luna wanted their people to look closely at their relationship with humans. Following the great purge of natural wolves, absolute secrecy reigned as the defacto survival technique. Given the far-reaching advances of technology in a shrinking world, avoidance was an insufficient response.

He entertained no illusions of outing his people to the world, but perhaps they needed to balance defense with some creative offense. The Delta schools seemed the likeliest agent for change in that regard, though they’d barely scratched the surface of possibilities. Focused inward, none of their students were prepared to infiltrate and interact with the human world in which they lived. The notion had been festering in the back of his mind, and he’d reached a turning point.

Sheppard grabbed a legal pad and began a list. With the security issue on everyone’s mind, this was the perfect time to present his ideas for consideration and discussion. While the council may not embrace his complete vision for change, he believed they were flexible enough to crack open the door without panic. Sheppard smiled as the rough outline of a plan took shape, grateful to Gladstone for shaking up the status quo.
