Idk...probably forever.

I chuckle because I love the way that sounds. It’s exactly what I want and if everything goes as planned here today, Colson will talk to Reiss and we will be on our way to that forever.

“Colson is wearing the pink gear today?” Stas asks, laughing at the gear I have laid out of the tote in the race trailer.

“Yeah we had a deal that if I won one of the first two motos I would wear pink for the final.”

“Sick,” she smiles. “It makes sense too. Since you are a girl.”

I shake my head, “Yep. Where’s Reiss?”

“He’s with Mira.”

I wince, knowing that upsets her, “You okay?”

“He’s texting me,” she shrugs. “He got himself into this mess and he’s almost out of it, so there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”

My phone vibrates with a text and just when I thought my mind was right for the race and the nerves were gone, Jackson’s name fills the screen. My heart sinks and I begin to panic.

“What is it?” Stassie asks. “You look like you might throw up.”

I turn my phone and show her that there’s a message from Jackson.

“No,” she says matter of factly. “You aren’t opening that. Here.”

She holds her hand out, waiting for me to hand it to her and when I do she takes the phone and walks outside with it. I know she is going to Colson.

“Wait, Stas!” I say as I open the door and run straight into him already holding my phone.

“When did he send this?”

Stassie answers for me because I’m too anxiety ridden to speak, “Just now.”

Colson nods once and grabs both of my shoulders, “Don’t worry about him. I’ll take care of it, he’s not gonna hurt you.

“What did he say?” I ask, wanting to know but not wanting to know at the same time. I take the phone from Colson with the screen open on his message. It’s a pictureof Colson kissing me.

Jack

Does your brother know about this?

My heart sinks into the depth of my stomach, all of the contents threatening to come back up. This can’t be happening. Did he send that photo to Reiss?

“Lincoln,” Colson says, his intense stare burning with a passion I’ve never seen before. “He’s not gonna do anything to hurt you. I promise.”

He takes my phone and places it in his pocket. “Go on to staging and wait for Reiss. I’ll meet you after. Same as last time. Nothing is going to happen, I’ll find him.”

I can’t do anything but nod at him as I grab all my stuff and head back into the trailer to change. My body is trembling as I pull my pants up and put my boots on.

How did he get that picture? Was he spying on us? Is he here?

I pull Colson’s jersey down over my head quickly, trying my best to get out of my own skin and into Colson’s. I want to do anything I can right now to not be me. If he is here, I don’t want him finding me, and as long as I’m dressed as Colson, he won’t.

Staging is crowded and when we all line up at the gate, my heartrate is through the roof. I’m not worried about the race, I’m worried about everything imploding when I get back to the trailer.

On our last moto, Reiss and I weren’t lined up next to each other, but on this one he picked the gate next to mine. He reaches over for his usual fist bump, which makes me think he hasn’t seen that picture… yet.

I raise my hand and realize I was in such a hurry toleave I didn’t put my gloves on. My pink painted nails are on display for everyone to see. I lift my fist to bump Reiss’ trying my best to hide them but I notice he looks down at my handle bars for a second before the gate drops.
