He slaps his chest with both hands like an idiot.

“Ugh, stop talking about yourself in third person, dipshit.”

He grins, staring up at my ceiling, and I’m not reallysure if he wants to talk about it but I open up the opportunity if he does.

“Are you upset?” I ask, “About the divorce?”

He cocks his neck backward and simply says, “No.”

“Do you want to talk about it?”

He shakes his head, nuzzling his forehead against my collarbone. “Also no.”

“Okay, well did you know Reiss is pretending to be Mira’s baby daddy?”

Colson groans, “Ugh, yeah. He’s an idiot.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” I question. “That explains why Landon is out for blood.”

“I think Jackson is behind what happened at East Bend,” Colson says, and I can’t help but argue. Sure he provided the money, that’s obvious, but I think Landon is the real mastermind.

“Maybe,” I huff. “But there’s no way Jackson would’ve known about that rule without Landon or someone on his team suggesting it.”

“Yeah,” Colson agrees. “Somehow it all turned into a fucking mess.”

“Landon knew the only way to beat you was on a technicality.”

Colson smiles at me sleepily, “Don’t you mean you? Beat you? You kicked his ass.”

My cheeks turn pink with the compliment, “I kinda did, huh?”

“Yeah, baby Bane. One day everyone’s gonna know how great you are and it’ll be more than just me telling you.”

I snuggle closer to him, warming his tanned skin, “I like that it’s only you. I don’t need all the attention thatsome of these moto guys crave. I’ve never wanted that. Plus, it makes it more special when you are the one hyping me up.”

He takes the pad of his index finger and drags it down my nose before bopping it lightly on the tip, “I’ll always hype you up. I’ve been doing it since we were kids. Maybe not as out loud as I should have but I was doing it in my mind.”

I know exactly what he means, I’ve been loving Colson since we were little but I knew I couldn’t love him out loud. Colson belonged to my brother but I think I always knew someday he’d be mine too.

He wraps his arms around me, “I’m sorry I didn’t come earlier on the 4thof July. I was in my head about everything, Linc. I should’ve been here. I’m gonna fuck up sometimes, and I’m not always going to do everything right. I’m not always gonna love you the right way.”

I look up to him, his expression tortured, “I don’t want perfect, Colson. I don’t care if our love makes sense to anyone else. I don’t want comfortable, I don’t want good-enough. I want this wild love that we can’t explain and everyone thinks is insane.”

He nods, “I think that’s the only way to love someone.”

Snaking his hand around my neck and threading his long fingers through my dark silky hair, he pulls me in for a kiss. His grip is tight against my hip bone, and he kisses me until I’m nearly breathless. He pulls me flesh against him, his erection pressed firmly against my belly button. Showing me he’s just as needy for me as I am for him.

I want him.

He has this rare innate ability to make me feel safe andreckless at the same time and it’s a feeling I literally crave from him. My pulse quickens to a dangerous pace, and his hand slips from my hip to the hem of my silk panties, until his hand is firmly cupped against me.

“Is this okay?” he asks, his long, beautifully unfair eyelashes heavy against his green eyes.

I nod, letting him know that it’s okay, thatI’mokay.

I moan, breathless against his chest when I feel him touch me. His fingers slip inside me, swirling against my tight walls. I feel my legs tense but he pushes harder, “Open your legs,” he breathes. “Wider.”

I do as he says, giving him a better angle and he pushes his hand in further, until I feel the base of his thumb against my clit. He swirls his thumb in circles and pushes the blanket back so he can watch and the way his eyes darken with need, lights my body on fire.
