I glance around the room, wondering if I am even in the right headspace to dump any more of my problems on the guy I just met. I start to reel myself back in.

“Well?” he pushes, “You chickening out?”

“Grayson, my ex, cheated on me.” I blurt out.

His smile straightens into a hard line. I know he was expecting something a little lighter than that but I figure I may as well dump it all on him.

I shake my head, “I wanted to forgive him, which is so stupid I know, but I seriously didn’t know what I would do without him.”

He tilts his brows inward, “He’s an asshole.”

“It was with my best friend. Well, I thought she was.” I laugh maniacally, “He took her to prom. He made me feel crazy, said he’d been drifting away for months.”

Phoenix pushes closer to me, “So he cheated and then made you feel like it was your fault?”

“Yeah, then broke up with me,” I state. “We met up to talk and I was actually thinking about forgiving him. I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that he cheated or the fact that he cheated and he was the one to end it.”

He pushes a stray piece of hair from my face, tucking it gently behind my ear, “You are too hard on yourself. He’s a dipshit, Daisy.”

“Yeah, and his dick was small,” I giggle. “And it was curved like fucking captain hook.”

Phoenix laughs, “See, that’s the kind of attitude you should have. Fuck that guy.”

“I just feel so stupid, you know?”

“How did you find out?” He asks.

I wipe a tear, “I saw a message on my best friend Raelynn’s phone from him. They didn’t do a very good job of hiding it.”

“Well, it sucks,” he agrees. “But it worked out in my favor. If it wasn’t for his dumbass actions, he’d probably be next to you on this bed. Not me.”

I half smile, afraid to show too much emotion. “I’m glad it’s you.”

“Me too.”

He reaches across me to the bedside table and pulls a white daisy from the vase, handing it to me.

“A daisy for Daisy.”

I look at him, and his grin is wide. Something I wouldn’t mind seeing every single day.

A smile that I know is leaving tomorrow, without me.

Two Weeks Later

“Bro, I’m so glad you are back. The house needs you,” Huddy whines.

I can’t help but roll my eyes, “You mean it needs cleaned? You guys are nasty. You don’t even live here.”

That didn’t mean they weren’t regulars, crashing on the couch more often than not.

“We’re not nasty,” Remi chimes in, “We’re just messy.”

Levi picks up what appears to be a thong from the island in the kitchen, “Care to explain this?”
