Trinity’s smile falls, “Well, I’ll see you around. Have fun tonight.”

I half smile and watch as she walks away. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings but I can’t entertain anyone. I don’t have the energy.

Within fifteen minutes, I’m ready to leave. Huddy is posted up on a chair in the corner with his tongue down some girl's throat while Remi and Levi are going over some football shit on the Ipad. Collins is staring into his phone ten feet away from me rambling on about his ex-girlfriend.

“She’s pathetic,” he laughs. “Followed me here and everything.”

One of the guys sips his beer, looking at the picture on his phone. “Who cares, bro, she’s fucking hot. I’d be hitting that on top of all the pussy you’re getting now.”

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I don’t need to start anything with this prick. He’s not worth my time.

“I’m gonna head out, Rem. I’ll catch you guys tomorrow.”

Remi looks up at me over the rim of his black glasses, “You good to drive?”

Levi closes out the Ipad and stands up, “I’ll drive you, I’ve only had one beer. I gotta get home and get some numbers over to Coach before he kicks me off the sidelines.”

Remi nods, then heads over toward Huddy and the guys while Levi and I make our way through the crowd to the front door.

“Is everything okay?” he asks, pushing through the front door. “You look like shit.”

I shake my head, “I’m fine.”

I just want to go home.

chapter twelve

Quinn

Voltage is exactly as I expected.

Dirty and full of drunk assholes.

The bouncer at the door didn’t even ID us. He was too busy looking at my chest, and Ava’s long legs to care. All she had to do was bat her eyelashes in his direction and he was ushering us through the door.

Five seconds inside and I know this isn’t my vibe. I’m certainlynota party girl.

Ava walks in like she owns the place, even though she maybe knows three people. She has a very distinct personality that is the complete opposite of mine. Where she is outspoken, I’m reserved. Maybe that wasn’t always the case but that’s how it’s been for a while. I don’t like the attention, so I’m happy to let her bask in it.

After we get a couple of drinks at the bar, Ava sets her sights on the guy from earlier. He’s posted up in the corner of the patio on a barstool with a girl standing between his knees.

“Why did he ask me to come here if he has a fucking girlfriend?” She sneers, tilting her vodka cranberry back.

I should make an excuse for him to make her feel better but that’s not really my style. So instead, I tell her the truth. “It’s probably just the first girl that he saw tonight. Dude is looking to get laid.”

Ava doesn’t stop drinking and gulps until her entire drink is gone. Slamming it on the bar she growls, “Fucking jerk.”

I spot the guy, Remi, from my class earlier and smile as he notices me and waves. “Who’s that!” Ava grins, wiggling her eyebrows. “He’s totally eye fucking you.”

“Is not,” I argue. “And it’s just some guy from my History class.”

Ava rolls her eyes, “Bullshit. That guy is totally undressing you with his eyes right now, and he is hot, Quinn. Like, in a way I can’t even explain.”

She is right, Remi is hot. He totally gives off a smart jock vibe that is obviously making Ava’s panties melt, and the way his hair hangs over his black rimmed glasses is sexy, I’ll give her that.

Remi walks up and Ava squirms next to me.

“Hey, you.” He smiles. “Fancy meeting you here.”
