I hop out and lift the hood to inspect the engine. From the corner of my eye, I catch Teddi get out and stretch. I try not to notice the way her breasts strain against her white t-shirt or the way the black material of her leggings hugs her ass but it’s easy to notice everything about a woman when she’s so fucking gorgeous.
As she walks around, I all but forget what I’m supposed to be doing. The muscle inside my chest that’s been dormant since the day Samantha died is slowly coming back to life.
She turns quickly and catches me staring. “Do I have something on my face?” She swipes at her pink cheeks. “Is it a bug?”
“No bug,” I say. “Just couldn’t help myself.”
She slowly walks toward me with a faint smile on her lips and faces the engine of the Polaris. She leans forward and reaches down inside. Her tongue darts out and her eyes squint as she adjusts something I can’t see.
She pulls her hand back and grins. “Try it now.”
I’m skeptical but I get behind the wheel and turn the key. Sure enough, it starts. She closes the hood and hops in beside me. My mouth hangs open. “How did you do that?”
“You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl,” she answers me cryptically.
