“I don’t want the moon and stars. Those things have to be shared with the whole world. All I want is you and our family.” I wrap my arms around his neck.
“We’re yours. Forever,” he says, pressing his lips against mine.
“Eww,” Xander says while Maddy stands beside him making kissing noises.
Liam and I both pull away from one another laughing.
“Alright, let’s go play,” Liam says, and the kids cheer and take off toward the equipment. I follow, laughing as Liam chases after them. They’re giggling the whole way and Liam is pretending he can’t catch them as he hollers at them. Watching my whole life in front of me, I know that I’m in the best possible place I could be. I’ll never understand how I got so lucky, but I also know that I won’t question it because where I am is right where I’ll always want to be.

It’s been one year since I married the love of my life, and every day since has been nothing short of magical. I can’t even explain all the ways that Sasha has changed this family. Xander is now in first grade and he’s thriving. He’s getting straight A’s and his behavior issues are now a thing of the past. Maddy is in her second year of preschool, and she’s a totally different kid.
