We sit on the bench and watch the kids as they rip up bread and toss it in the water for the ducks to eat. I can’t take my eyes off my engagement ring. With the sun shining, it lights up the diamond and makes it sparkle.

Xander turns around. “Does that mean that we can call you Mom now?”

I laugh and look at Liam. He looks at me and shrugs. “I would love for you to call me Mom.” Xander rushes over and wraps his arms around my neck, hugging me tightly. Maddie, feeling left out, runs over too and crawls up into my lap.

“Yay! We have a mommy now,” she says, making my heart swell with love.

I never thought that when I took this job that this is where it would lead me, but I’m so glad that this is where I am. I couldn’t imagine my life without these kids by my side. They bring so much joy and excitement and happiness to my daily life that I go to bed every night wondering how I got so lucky. I never imagined I’d find a love like Liam.

He shows me the true meaning of love every day. He loves me day in and day out and he’s always there ready if I need to talk, if I need to vent, or even if I just want someone to hold me. I never thought I’d manage to find a guy like him and have two great kids, but now that I have, I know that my life will never be the same. I’ll never feel lonely again. I’ll never wish for my life to be different, because now I know that I have everything that life could offer.

Liam squeezes my knee, and I turn from watching the kids to looking at him.

“You have no idea how happy you’ve made us today.”

I smile. “I’m the lucky one. I get a husband and two great kids all at once.”

He shakes his head. “No, I’m the lucky one. I never thought I’d find you, and now that I have, I swear, I’ll give you everything, I’ll give you the moon and the stars if you ask,” he says, moving in.

“I don’t want the moon and stars. Those things have to be shared with the whole world. All I want is you and our family.” I wrap my arms around his neck.

“We’re yours. Forever,” he says, pressing his lips against mine.

“Eww,” Xander says while Maddy stands beside him making kissing noises.

Liam and I both pull away from one another laughing.

“Alright, let’s go play,” Liam says, and the kids cheer and take off toward the equipment. I follow, laughing as Liam chases after them. They’re giggling the whole way and Liam is pretending he can’t catch them as he hollers at them. Watching my whole life in front of me, I know that I’m in the best possible place I could be. I’ll never understand how I got so lucky, but I also know that I won’t question it because where I am is right where I’ll always want to be.

Epilogue

LIAM

It’s been one year since I married the love of my life, and every day since has been nothing short of magical. I can’t even explain all the ways that Sasha has changed this family. Xander is now in first grade and he’s thriving. He’s getting straight A’s and his behavior issues are now a thing of the past. He’s already doing third grade math in an advanced placement class, and I know he’ll have a bright future because of Sasha.

Maddy is in her second year of preschool, and she’s a totally different kid. She no longer gets in trouble at school for picking on the other students, she no longer hits or takes things away from other kids. She’s learned how to share, and her teacher says she’s well ahead of any kid in her class. She can write her first and last name, knows all of her ABC’s, she can count well past fifty, and her teacher is confident that she’ll be the top of her class for years to come. She’s like a sponge, just absorbing everything she hears.

And my life has changed quite a bit as well. I’m no longer concerned with doing as much work as I can. I’ve learned that there needs to be a balance between work life and family life. I have strict office hours now that I always keep. I work Monday through Wednesday at my home office and go into the corporate building on Thursdays and Fridays. My nights and weekends are spent with my family.

Every night, Sasha and I prepare dinner together and then we all eat at the table as one big family. We cuddle on the couch while the kids play and wait for bedtime. When bedtime approaches, she takes Maddy to bed while I put Xander in bed. Then we have the rest of our night to enjoy one another. We spend our time in the hot tub with a glass of wine, cuddling in front of the fireplace in the living room, or rolling around in bed. We never take one another for granted and we always make time for one another. I really couldn’t ask for anything more. My last marriage was a wreck that couldn’t end soon enough, and this one is better than I ever could’ve imagined.

I’m lying in bed with the lights turned down when the door opens and Sasha walks in only wearing an oversized t-shirt as a night gown. She sees me and then lifts the shirt above her head and tosses it into the floor. I sit up in bed and watch as she walks closer to me in nothing but a black thong. When she climbs up on top of me, I roll her over and settle between her legs. My mouth lands on her nipple, and I suck it into my mouth as I pull her panties down her legs. She’s already panting and wiggling against me. I toss the panties into the floor and move my hand between her legs. I rub her clit then skim my finger down to slide it inside her. Without warning, I break our kiss and move down her body. As my tongue flicks against her clit, I remove my finger from her. Now that it’s coated with her inner arousal, I slide it into her ass, and her hips buck upward. After only a few minutes of touching every spot, she comes undone, soaking the bed beneath us.

Before she’s reached the end of her release, I sit up and thrust inside. She digs her nails into my back and cries out, only making me go deeper. I get lost in her just like I always do. Being with Sasha is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. She’s beautiful, kind, charming, and she handles the job of any ten people. My kids love her, our kids, and I hate to think about what could have become of this family had she not joined it. The day she moved in here was the day she saved this family, and I owe her my life for everything she’s done, for all the happiness she’s brought us.

Epilogue

SASHA

This last year has been perfect and amazing. Every time I think it can’t be topped, the next day is always better. Our wedding was beautiful, and I can’t walk past the pictures hanging in the house without thinking back on how perfect the day was. We held it in the park. It seemed fitting, with the pond behind us. The pictures are gorgeous, and the day itself was one I’ll never forget. The kids stayed with Liam’s parents for a week while we took our honeymoon to Paris. Everything was romantic and beautiful, and I can’t wait to go back one day.

Today is just a normal Monday, and I’m on my way to pick the kids up from school. I park and climb out to stand by the doors and wait for them. Youngest kids get out first, so Maddy is in my arms the moment Xander runs out. He gives me a big hug before we all turn to load up in the car. I get them buckled up and then I climb behind the steering wheel. As I’m starting up the car, I tell them, “We have a surprise for you two when we get home!”

“Yay!” they both cheer.

“What is it? Is it a new toy?” Maddy asks.

I laugh. “No, it’s not a new toy.”
