The next morning,I’m running out the door, giving Brenda the rundown of what to do before Nellie arrives.

“I’m not sure what time she’ll get here exactly. I just told her before lunch, so she can get settled. Just show her to her room, get her something to eat, that sort of thing. I’ll be back for dinner, though. I’m not sure if I’ll need you stay for that, however. I’ll keep you updated with all the plans.”

My housekeeper rolls her eyes.

“Okay, Nash. I can handle this. I’ll make sure she’s settled and well-fed.”

“If she asks for anything, you can get it for her, no questions asked. Spare no expense.”

Brenda rolls her eyes again.

“I. Can. Take. Care of this. I can see that in my old age, sometimes you think I might forget something here or there, but I’ll remember everything you’ve just told me.”

“Oh, Brenda. I don’t even see your age. Your beauty is much too radiant to let me.”

Brenda rolls her eyes.

“You play too much Nash Keller,” she says while punching me in the arm. “And you’re going to be late to work if you keep lollygagging around here. I promise everything will go smoothly even if you aren’t here. I’ve been keeping this home a well-oiled machine for years. Now go! Go!” She starts to push me out the door, and I get my butt moving to appease the middle-aged woman. Plus, she’s right. Iamstarting to run late.

“I’m going, I’m going! Call me if you need anything. And text me when Nellie gets here.”

I finally get my butt out of the door and onto my motorcycle. The powerful engine revs, and I smile, feeling the vibrating thrum between my thighs. Colt can hold the fort down for a few minutes. It’s not like it’s crucial for me to always be there. But then again, I have a few important client meetings today that I can’t miss, so I strap on my helmet and zoom off.

I love Jaybird but going to work today is somewhat bittersweet.

The good thing is that when I come back home, I’ll have Nellie’s sweet, plump ass to look forward to.

Thank you, God.

Nellie

Nash said I could show up any time before noon today, so I pull into his driveway around eleven twenty. That should give me enough time to unpack and have lunch with him at twelve.

I’m guessing that’s why he said before noon, so we can eat together. His text was vague which has been a big pattern with him. I guess I could ask more clarifying questions.

But I don’t know how this whole thing works. What am I allowed to do? What am I not allowed to do? It’s all so very confusing.

After parking my humble hatchback, I go to the trunk to get my suitcase. It takes a little elbow grease to get the thing out. I tried to pack enough stuff for three months, which was an exercise in and of itself. I stuffed this thing to its brim. I’m not sure what Nash is going to provide for me in terms of essentials, so I didn’t want to end up stranded with nothing.

I do have the ten thousand dollars he gave me, but I want to save as much of that as possible.

Dear God, depositing that into my bank account yesterday was so nerve-wracking. I’m sure the teller thought I had forged that check or something, but it all went down smoothly, and I got to watch my balance shoot up. The number it hit was astronomical. I’veneverhad that much in my account before.

But depositing the check was only the beginning. Now that I’ve officially accepted the money, there’s no backing out. This is really going to happen. There’s no room for second thoughts.

Then again, I wish I hadn’t just walked out yesterday. As I drove home, so many questions started to come at me. But I felt too embarrassed to call Nash, so I just kept them to myself, and tried to pack in anticipation of the worst-case scenario. I even put two tubes of toothpaste in my bag, in case we run out, although I’m sure that that won’t be the case.

After all, as Nash Keller’s plaything, I can’t causetoomuch trouble for him. He’s got so much money, that he seems totally invincible.

I manage to get my suitcase out of the trunk and wheel it up to the front door. I ring the doorbell and wait for Nash to come and greet me. My heart starts to beat faster and faster, thinking about seeing him again. The more I think about our little arrangement, the more I start to think about being with him again, and the more excited I become.

I’m practically bursting at this point.

The door starts to open.

“Hi –” I start, but then I clam up. It doesn’t take me long to realize that the person standing in front of me isn’t Nash. She’s actually the total opposite of Nash. She’s a tiny middle-aged lady with grayish hair tucked behind her ears.
