Did this woman even breathe between sentences?

“Giselle, I’m sorry, but I have a conference call appointment with a client in five minutes, so if you’ll excuse me.”

She cleared her throat. “Of course.” She went to hand me whatever was in the Tupperware. “I made these last—”

“Thank you. You can leave them with Isabella,” I said quickly before power walking to my office. I thought I was in the clear… until I found Lisa standing by my door in the waiting area with files in her arms.

“Good morning, Mr. Cooper.” She gave a subtle smile with a sultry look in her eyes. I did not want to think about what she was imagining at the moment.

I gave a quick nod and opened the door, but before I had a chance to close it, Lisa stepped in.

Dammit. Where was Isabella?

“Here are the files you requested.”

I hung my suit jacket and sat down at my desk without looking her way once. “Thank you, but from now on, any files I request can be left with Isabella.”

“Of course, Mr. Cooper… May I get you some coffee?”

“No thanks, I’ll get it in a minute.”

“Nonsense.” She slinked her way to my Keurig in a tight black pencil skirt. I turned away and started up my computer.

“Cream with one sugar?”

Huh. How did she know that?

“Yes, thank you.”

She leaned forward across from my desk to place the mug in front of me. Her hot pink, button-down blouse was about one button too open, revealing a black lacy bra and a healthy cleavage. I focused my eyes on the monitor and started to sift through my emails. “You can leave those files with Isabella on your way out.”

“If there’sanythingelse you need, please don’t hesitate to call me.”

“I’m fine, thank you.”

As soon as she closed the door, I flopped back in my chair, rubbing at my eyes. If this nonsense kept up, I would have to start working from home or rent a floor with a private elevator that went straight to my office.

A knock sounded on my door before Isabella poked her head in. “Are you ready to go over your daily appointments?”

“Yes, please, come in.”

Isabella was the only breath of fresh air I had around here. Never once did she make any advances. Thankfully, I wasn’t her type.

With a phone in hand, she read off my appointments for the day. “Oh, and don’t forget your meeting tonight with Rajesh Arya. Longfellow, eight o’clock.”

I nodded. “You’ll have to stay late again tonight and make sure we’re prepped.”

“It’s Friday, and I have plans.”

“I’m not interested in hearing about your dates, you’ll have to push it for later. I need you for this one.”

Isabella crossed her arms. “It’snota date, it’s my Singles Club meetup, and I already had to cancel the last one because you forced me to stay late.”

“Singles Club?”

“Yes.”

“And what, may I ask, is a Singles Club?”
