“I wouldn’t be opposed to playing that with you.”

“You trust me that much?”

He looked at me, searching my eyes. “I think I do.”

My heart warmed. “Then we’ll play.” I twisted off my cap. “You start.”

He tapped the bottle and thought a moment. “Have you ever been out of state?”

“You don’t ask a question, you make a statement. What you’d say isNever have I ever been out of my home state.”

We both took a sip of water.

He tilted his head. “Where did you go?”

I shook my head. “That’s part of the fun. Keeping a little mystery and finding the best statements to figure out more about another person.”

“You weren’t curious at all about what the tabloids had to say?”

“Why would I need to look up what others say when I can just ask you myself?” I sat up straighter, ready to take this game even further. “Never have I ever had sex in a public place.”

I drank, he didn’t.

“Where?” he asked, sounding a bit jealous.

I didn’t answer. “Your turn.”

He stared that brooding stare of his. “Never have I ever had more than one sexual partner at this point in my life.”

He sipped his water. I didn’t.

My eyes didn’t leave his. “Never have I ever had more than two sexual partners at this point in my life.”

He didn’t drink.

“Never have I ever been in love,” he said softly.

We both drank.
