“No. It was preventative.”
He took in a deep breath and nodded. “Is that how your mother died?”
“Yes. I’m high risk, so this was the option I chose.”
He rubbed a hand over his mouth.
“You don’t have to be weirded out by it. I don’t regret it.”
“I’m not weirded out at all,” he said. “I just…” He hesitated, shaking his head. “I’m glad you’re not sick.”
I laughed. “That makes two of us.”
He took the list I had given him from his pocket and handed it to me. “I’ve decided to take on your dare.”
I jumped up, excitement bursting through me. “Seriously?”
He smiled a smile that lit up his face. “Seriously.”
“Good, because we start tonight.”
His smile faded. “Which one?”
I looked down on the paper. “We are going to sneak out and go to a party, then sneak back in without getting caught.”
“I’m sure your grandmother won’t mind us going out.”
“Of course not, but we’ll pretend like she would be.”
“Alright, I’ll follow your lead.”
“Nope. You have to figure that one out on your own, and I’ll followyourlead.”
“You’re on.”
