I kissed her again, once more fully aware that the rest of the Gold Wolves were waiting. I could have stayed like that forever.

Finally, after Nolan cleared his throat with a dramatic, mildly irritated cough, I pulled away, though not without a considerable amount of willpower. I grinned down at Morgan again.

“Let’s go home,” I said. “Your real home.” I raised an eyebrow, tilting my head as I looked down at her, hesitating for the briefest of moments. “Assuming you want to come back to my place.”

Her smile turned wry and amused. “Well, since you asked so nicely, I think that sounds perfect.”

Chapter 18 - Morgan

Annabelle giggled, beaming up at me with bright gray eyes, almost identical to Kendra’s.

“I just can’t get over how precious she is!” Kendra cooed as she looked down at her niece. “She looks a bit like Mom.” She continued bouncing Annabelle up and down in her arms. “Has she shown any signs of magic? Or shifting?”

“We won’t know about the shifting bit for a while, but she’s definitely got magic,” I said. “I woke up the other morning to check on her, and half her toys were floating several feet off the floor around her crib.”

“Oh, she’s a strong one,” Kendra chuckled, gazing down at Annabelle. “We’re going to have to train you up fast before you start breaking walls like your mother.”

“That was one time,” I said, laughing. “And I was angry you weren’t sharing your toys.”

Kendra’s grin grew wide, and she winked at me. “It’s a relief,” she said, smiling as she kept bouncing Annabelle up and down. “After the last few years, I never thought we would get the chance to be parents, or have a normal life whatsoever. I’m just glad that things are sort of normal.”

“Emphasis on ‘sort of,’” I muttered, my eyes sweeping around the house. “House” was a little unfair, though, because this place was more like a mansion. I didn’t know what Chris had been talking about when he told me Will’s house put his to shame. This place was magical… perfect in nearly every way. Large and spacious with a stunning view of a lake below, with high ceilings and open spaces all over the place.

Kendra’s forehead creased as she studied me, looking like she could read my thoughts. “Don’t say you don’t deserve it,” she said, frowning a little. “Not after everything you’ve been through.”

I shook my head as Annabelle began giving soft, tiny cries. Picking her up from my sister’s arms, I started bouncing her and humming softly, cradling her until her tiny little eyes fluttered shut.

“Not at all,” I said. “For once, I don’t feel guilty or feel like I shouldn’t be allowed to do something. I just mean it’s a lot. I’m sure you felt the same way when Will dragged you out of the portal as well.”

She nodded as she studied me again, her eyes glittering as she smiled. She stood and came to stand next to me as we both looked out the window. Annabelle stared out with us, her hand tucked into her mouth.

“You’ll get used to it all,” Kendra said, giving me a side hug. “I promise.”

A shadow loomed overhead. Both of us paused, craning our necks up to see who had joined us. I couldn’t help as a wide grin spread across my face as Chris’s handsome features beamed down at us. Will came to stand next to Kendra.

“You ladies doing okay?” he asked, his hand going to my back, fingers stroking idly up and down my spine. My body arched instinctively in response, and I let out a soft, satisfied sigh.

“Better now,” I said without thinking. I caught a spark of intrigue in Chris’s eyes, and something that might have been hunger. Something in that look made my stomach lurch as lust sparked inside me.

Kendra bit back a smirk as her eyes danced between the two of us, trying to hold back some of her mirth. She plucked Annabelle from my arms.

“I think it’s time Annabelle comes with Auntie Kendra and Uncle Will to the park,” she said. She shot her mate a look that said he didn’t have much say in the matter. “What do you think, Will?”

“I think I’ve been needing a bit of a stroll,” Will agreed amicably, his eyes darting between me and Chris with undisguised amusement.

Kendra and Will gathered their belongings and placed Annabelle in her stroller, moving swiftly. They waved as they walked out, closing the door behind them.

The second they were out the door, Chris swept around to stand in front of me. He tilted my chin upward as he bent down, pushing his lips gently against mine. That small gesture turned out to be enough to make my insides squirm with delight and need, and I let out a soft sigh as my eyes fluttered shut for the tiniest of moments. When I opened them again, Chris continued staring down at me. He came and walked around to stand behind me. I was acutely aware of the heat radiating off him, and my stomach squirmed with delight.

“How are you doing?” Chris murmured, his hands going to my shoulders. I let out a soft moan as he began massaging my back.

“Ooh, much better now,” I sighed, my head lolling back. My eyes peeked open, and he grinned as I looked up at him, his fingers continuing to work their magic.

“You’re tense,” he muttered. One hand slid down my spine, massaging as he went. The other hand continued to work on my shoulder.

“Just been a lot going on,” I yawned. “And the lack of sleep isn’t helping.”

“No kidding,” Chris said. “Work plus a new baby is definitely a fun combination.”
