Her fingers brushed against my chest, and I didn’t move. “He went to the supermarket with the cook.”
She looked up at me. “Can I get on with those text messages so that I can help out with Bradley? He’s why I’m here, after all.”
How is she not turned on and achy with need?“That’s all you want?”
She closed her eyes and hugged me. Her touch sent a thrill through my veins. “Well, I was thinking maybe we’re done with the plans now and you’ll kiss me.”
“My lips are right here if you want a taste before stripping naked for me.”
Her eyes sparkled, and she went up on her tiptoes and pressed her lips against mine.
“Finally,” I mumbled as I tugged her closer and stroked her back.
Now she’ll be mine, and nothing will stand in my way.Her kiss started a fire that engulfed me in a way I’d never thought possible and absolutely never wanted to stop. It was past time for me to have her.
Chapter Nine
Olivia
Johnny ledme to his bedroom, and when his door slammed, my heart raced.
I backed away from him as he flipped the lights on and headed toward the windows.
I was ready, but my skin had goose bumps, and adrenaline rushed through my body. I needed to calm down, so I glanced at the midday sun and closed my eyes to let the warmth of the day be all I focused on.
He tossed his shirt, which I’d tugged over his shoulders earlier, next to me, and I jumped.
Damn.I bit my lip and hoped that if I took a moment, I wouldn’t tremble.
His hand went to my shoulder, and he said, “Don’t be scared, Olivia. I would never hurt you.”
“I’m not.” I turned and let out a small giggle. His muscular body was perfection, and my fingers reached to touch him again, but I held back and let out a small sigh. “I wanted to come to you last night, but when you didn’t kiss me in the morning, I thought…”
His lips curved into a smile. “I waited for you to make the first move.”
“Really?”
“Absolutely.”
I took a deep breath, like I was about to let out a secret, and finished, “I thought you were mad at me for making you wait.”
He bumped into my side gently and said, “I wasn’t mad. I needed you to be sure.”
I took his hand and squeezed it. “My sisters say I don’t always speak up right away or decide quickly enough. I’m trying to work on that.”
Heat rose in my body as he guided me to sit on the window seat. We settled into it, and since it was built for one, we were snug. One of my legs was in his lap.
He asked, “Why do you do that?”
I met his gaze and saw how relaxed he was. “Because I never want to make mistakes, and going too fast overwhelms me.”
He curled his arm more around my back and asked, “Not because you doubt?”
A chuckle escaped my lips, and I played with my necklace. “There is that, a little, but I’ve figured out that my first instinct is usually right, so I try to follow my heart.”
He massaged my lower back a little, and my heart fluttered, but I didn’t move. “That’s hard to imagine.”
A laugh helped me relax, though his touch set me off. “Because you say what you think, no matter if you should or shouldn’t?”
