I picked Mel up twenty minutes ago and brought her to a place I discovered a few weeks after moving to Maryland: Joysticks.

Santos said to just have fun, right? Well, gaming is how I have fun when I’m not on the ice, and this place is fucking awesome. The owner, Dave, knows more about video games than anyone I’ve ever met, and he’s super chill. He’s hosting a Wizards and Warlocks tournament today. I’m not playing, but a couple people I game with will be, so I came to support them. Plus, I thought Mel would enjoy it. She said she played a little, plus places like this attract people from all walks of life, and Mel is one of the friendliest people know. I figured by the end of the afternoon, she’d have a dozen new best friends.

But ever since we pulled into the lot, I’ve been having doubts. What the hell am I even doing? I want Mel to date me for real, so I need to show her the best version of myself. This should be when I turn on the charm, right? Wine and dine her. Show her I’m the man for her. Instead, I’m showing her what a nerd I am. I mean, I am a gaming nerd, but I should probably keep that under wraps at least a little until she’s so head over heels for me that she doesn’t mind the fact that I’m a giant dork.

I turn my car off and sigh. Ok, I can do this. What’s the worst that could happen? She could laugh her ass off at me and walk out, I guess, but that’s not Mel’s style. She’s kind, and she’s loyal. We made an agreement, and since the donor dinner is coming up, I know she’ll see it through.

It’s what happens after that that worries me. But I can’t do anything about it now, so I lock the car, pocket my keys, and take Mel’s hand to walk twenty feet to my doom.

We step inside and are immediately greeted by Len, one of my online friends. He stands before us in full wizard garb, beard and all. Samantha, his girlfriend, stands next to him, dressed as a jester, and Dave’s behind the counter pouring something into a smoking cauldron.

Have I mentioned there’s a big-ass winged dragon suspended from the ceiling?

This place is not subtle, and Dave loves a theme. He and his buddy Ben dress up as Mario and Luigi on a monthly basis, and he’s been known to roleplay as a Jedi. He takes his gaming and his fantasy quite seriously.

“Will! Good to see you,” he says, waving me over. I lead Mel in his direction, and he comes around the counter to embrace me in a hug. “I didn’t know you were coming in today.”

I shrug. “I want to cheer on Jake and Sophie. I know they’re going up against a tough crew today. Plus, um…I, uh, brought my girlfriend. Dave, this is Mel Cohen.”

Dave reaches out his hand for a shake, but Mel doesn’t even notice. She’s scanning the store, open-mouthed. “Are you kidding me right now?” she asks, turning her gaze on me.

“Um…” I take a deep breath, a little unsure of where this conversation is going. I mean, yeah, Mel’s cool and all, and I didn’t figure she’d freak out while we’re still in public, but then I remind myself that this date was my responsibility to plan, and I obviously fucked up. I just wanted to share a part of myself, one that I show to very few people. But I’m thinking now it was the wrong move. Dave must get that sense too because he stands a little straighter, ready to defend me, and his store.

“Unfuckingbelievable,” she mutters, shaking her head, and I freeze. I mean, she’s one of my favorite people in the world, but these are my friends, and she’s on the verge of causing a scene.

“Mel—”

She flings her arm wide, pointing to a display case along the wall. “Bustiers are standard dress and you didn’t tell me? What the hell kind of boyfriend are you? I’m wearing a puffer vest and a knitted cap when I could be wearing a leather corset? You’ve got some explaining to do.”

Wait, that’sMel’s beef? I rub the back of my neck and I can feel my cheeks heat. “Well, yeah, some people like to dress as Lorelei. She’s one of the high priestesses in my favorite game.”

“And you didn’t think this was information I should have?” Mel asks before turning to Dave and rolling her eyes in my direction. “Boyfriends are hard to train,” she says with an exaggerated sigh. “You don’t happen to have that bustier in purple, do you?”

Thirty minutes later, I’ve been roped into playing a game, and Mel’s sitting next to me in a purple leather bustier.

It’s a pretty damn good day.

* * *

Mel’spurple leather bustier is now on the floor of my bedroom.

And her thighs are gripping my ears as she holds on tight to the headboard as it slams into the wall over and over again.

The plaster on my wall may not survive, but right now, I don’t care.

Her body is all I can feel, hear, see, touch, and taste, and I’m more than happy with that. My hands cup her ass as I flick my tongue repeatedly over her most sensitive spot. She’s close, I can feel it, so I wrap my hand around my cock and stroke. Just as Mel falls apart, so do I, releasing a stream of cum that makes a mess on my stomach.

I’ve washed my sheets a dozen times and taken so many showers these past few weeks. And damn, is it worth it. Sex with Mel is amazing—it’s fun and it’s hot and it’s intimate. It’s everything, and I’m one hundred percent sure nothing else will ever measure up.

We hop in the shower because it’s easier this way, and then we dry off and curl up next to each other in bed. I flip on the TV while Mel grabs her crochet hook. But just as I find a good show to watch, my phone buzzes.

“Can you check it for me,” I ask as she picks it up off the nightstand and looks at the screen before tossing it my way.

“Your mom’s texting,” she says. I look down at the screen and curse.“What? Is something wrong?”

“Yes. No, not really. Kind of…um…my parents are coming up for our game next weekend, and they really want to meet you,” I say.

“That sounds really nice, actually. Is your brother coming, too?”
