Lily.
I peered over my shoulder and saw her sitting at a booth just behind me. Her eyes met mine, and I held my breath, drinking in her beauty like never before. Goddammit, the woman could start wars with those doe eyes of hers. Just the thought of her plump, precious lips wrapped around my cock would make me dismantle my entire company just for a moment of her warmth.
“Save me a seat,” I said.
After ordering and gathering up my food, I went to take a seat in front of her. She didn’t look all that pleased with my disturbing her lunch, but she sure as hell didn’t ask me to get up.
Looks like I’m already getting beneath her skin.
Which put me one step closer to getting beneath her clothes.
“So, are you stalking me or something?” she asked.
I chuckled. “Says the woman calling out my name out of nowhere in the middle of my favorite deli.”
She sipped her water. “This place is everyone’s favorite deli.”
I shrugged. “And I’m here just about every day for lunch.”
“Like you were at the spa every day for the past two weeks?”
I blinked. “Needed some knots worked out.”
She flickered her gaze in my general direction. “Uh-huh.”
I leaned forward. “And trust me, if you were worth stalking, I would have done it much, much better than that.”
She scoffed. “Whatever. I shouldn’t have even said your name. I’ll just g—”
I placed my hand on her forearm, stopping her in her tracks. “I’m looking for a secretary.”
She shrugged me off. “Good luck.”
I stood to my feet, panicked that she’d leave. “Will you just sit down and let me talk?”
She put her stuff in the trash. “You’ve done enough talking. I have to get back to work.”
“I need someone who not only helps me out but also doesn’t put up with my bullshit.”
She waved at me as she walked toward the front door. “Like I said, good luck in your search.”
“Whatever they’re paying you at your current job, I’ll triple it!”
The entire deli stopped moving as my voice bellowed over their heads. Lily paused before she slowly turned around, and I felt the entire restaurant staring at us. She looked around before puffing out her rosy red cheeks with a sigh. She nodded her head toward the sidewalk, signaling for me to follow her outside. And for the first time since I took over the family business, I did as I was told.
“Quadruple,” Lily said.
I abandoned my food with no hope of returning to get it. “What?”
She turned to face me on the sidewalk, her arms folded over her chest. “You said triple. I’m countering with quadruple.”
I quirked an eyebrow. “All right. I’ll pay you quadruple what they’re paying you now at wherever you’re working, and I’ll double your paid vacation.”
“I don’t get paid vacation.”
I shrugged. “Then, you’ll have three weeks of it.”
“Four.”
