“I’m sorry too.” Kasia’s breath tickled her ear. “I should have understood how hard it is with your dad. It must’ve been horrible to see him and Megan all cozy.” Kasia stepped back. “Tierney, you’re never a disappointment to me, I promise.” She wrapped Tierney in her arms.

Tierney turned her head and caught Kasia’s lips with her own. When she deepened the kiss, Kasia responded. Kasia continued her kisses down the side of Tierney’s neck when they pulled apart, and Tierney arched in response to Kasia’s touch.

When Kasia led her up the stairs, she wished she could record these moments of perfection so she could keep them with her forever. She wondered if Kasia would feel differently about her ability to disappoint her when she finally left Inishderry.

TWENTY-SIX

Tierney lookedup at the darkening skies as she trotted down the lane to the hotel. The wind was picking up. If this was the start of the storm, it was early, and she hoped it wouldn’t catch anyone out. Some of the fishers would cut it fine, so they didn’t lose too much income, but the hurricane that had been sweeping the East Coast of the US should have been a warning.

She should’ve checked in with her dad and Megan, but she was still upset and confused by their behavior. They’d be fine in their luxury houses, and they had each other, after all. By the time she got inside, big juicy raindrops were plopping onto the windows.

“The weather’s early.”

She jumped at Kasia’s voice close behind her but didn’t turn. Joining her, Kasia wrapped her up in her arms and looked out.

“I’m glad you’re back. How’s the cottage? I guess it was a good opportunity to lock up and make sure things were tied down.”

“Yeah, it’s all secure. At home, we have storm shutters on exposed windows like this.”

“The harbor’s not too exposed. That’s why the hotel was built here. The natural crescent shape of the rocks gives it some protection from prevailing winds.”

As a sailor, Tierney knew that, but as she looked out at the black clouds building in the sky, she felt uneasy. She turned in Kasia’s arms. “I’m worried about you if you get a lifeboat shout. I don’t want you to put yourself at risk.”

Kasia pulled a curl from her eyes and tucked it behind her ear. She lowered her head. “I love that you care about me, but I’ll be fine. We’re all well-trained and experienced.” Her lips touched Tierney’s forehead.

Tierney tipped her head and caught Kasia’s lips with her own. She needed to say some things, but in the moment, this contact felt more urgent. “Take me to bed?”

Kasia deepened the kiss, then pulled back, her eyes so full of emotion it was breathtaking.

“Always.” She pulled Tierney toward the stairs and up slowly, stopping for a long kiss on the way.

By the time Tierney got into the bedroom, she was ready to strip off her clothes and throw herself on the bed. But Kasia held her back, teasing her with yet another blistering kiss she felt to her toes. Then she started to undo the buttons on Tierney’s shirt one at a time. She tugged at the hem. “I can?—”

Kasia silenced her with her lips, and her hands moved Tierney’s aside as she ran her warm fingers inside the shirt and across her ribs. Tierney shuddered, and Kasia’s lips moved from hers, sliding down her neck. Sharp nips marked her progress.

“Oh, God, you’re killing me. Can we get naked now?”

A breath of warm air on her neck accompanied Kasia’s chuckle, but she didn’t stop her devouring journey across her skin as she moved up to Tierney’s ear. “Why the rush? We’ve got all night.”

When Kasia nibbled her lobe, Tierney’s legs nearly gave way. Kasia lowered her to the bed and knelt between her knees, still kissing. When she pulled back, her gaze caught Tierney’s. Then she planted kisses down her neck to the edge of her bra, releasing the last shirt buttons as she went.

Tierney tore off the shirt as if it burned, desperate for more of Kasia’s touch on her skin. Kasia’s hot breath blew across the top of her bra onto the curve of her breast. She unlatched the bra at the back but left it draped over Tierney’s breasts as she pushed her back on the bed.

“Relax.” Kasia smiled. “I’ll take care of everything.”

Tierney felt the buttons of her jeans pop one by one. She shivered with anticipation and lifted her hips so Kasia could pull her jeans to her ankles.

“Ooh, matching underwear. Who were you trying to impress?”

She didn’t know what made her dig around in her luggage that morning for the only underwear she possessed that could be described as sexy, but the sheer fabric wasn’t likely hiding exactly how much she wanted Kasia at this moment. She didn’t care. Kasia had felt her need so many times now she had nothing to hide. She reached down to where Kasia’s hand lay on her thigh and tried to move it to where she needed to feel her. “Please, Kasia.”

Kasia pushed her away. “We’re getting there.”

The warm breath from Kasia’s words heated the wet silk of her panties and her hips bucked.

“Oh, you like that?” Kasia slid her tongue across the fabric, up and down.

The sensation exquisite, Tierney let out a moan. “Take them off, please.”
