Kelsey scanned the page with trepidation.
To her relief, she saw Spring had scheduled his daughters’ day in half-hour increments instead of fifteen minutes like yesterday.
It was a slight improvement over yesterday’s multi-page timetable, but she still thought it was ridiculous to keep little kids on such a tight schedule.
“I’ll do my best to stick to this today,” she promised with little hope.
“Good. I’ve already measured the girls’ breakfast cereal into their bowls. You just have to add milk. Think you can manage that?” he asked sarcastically.
Kelsey knew it was a dig at her pancake-making escapade from the day before.
“Of course,” she retorted with equal sarcasm, raising an eyebrow.“Though I’m pretty sureIcould handle the breakfast cereal without a measuring cup.”
“I believe in measurements over estimates,” Spring said dryly.
“Only when it comes to baking,” she retorted.“Cooking isart, not a science.”
Wait—was that an actualsmilehovering around his kissable mouth?
Then his expression turned serious again.“I have to deal with upgrading the goat pen today, plus finish all the fence repairs I didn’t get to yesterday, so I might not be able to swing by at lunchtime to check on you guys.”
“That’s fine.” Kelsey was relieved that he wouldn’t drop by to check up on her today.“I’ll text you and let you know how the day is going when the girls sit down for lunch.”
He sighed.“Daisy got out again last night. I retrieved her, then took care of that yellowjacket nest you found.”
“I’m sorry to hear that.” Kelsey wondered what hijinks the little goat had gotten up to this time.
Spring nodded, but didn’t offer any details. Kelsey figured she’d hear all about it from the other people on this ranch.
She beamed at him.“I found a great recipe for homemade fish and chips that you can make in the air fryer. Do you have an air fryer?”
“Nope. I don’t need another appliance cluttering up my counters when a frying pan works just as well.” He turned to leave.
Alrighty then. She clamped down on the urge to roll her eyes.
But Kelsey was only human, and she couldn’t help appreciating the fine view of his tight, jeans-clad butt as he picked up his toolbox and walked away.
He’s so damn hot. Too bad he’s so uptight.
She wondered if Spring was that uptight in bed, too. Did he have a timetable for his sexual positions?
Her imagination took over.
Foreplay: three minutes. Then missionary position for five minutes, followed by cowgirl for four minutes. Orgasm scheduled at nine minutes and thirty seconds after penetration, followed by ten minutes of cuddling before jumping in the shower for exactly five minutes.
She giggled.
Spring stopped in his tracks and turned around to look at her with an inquiring expression.“What’s so funny?”
Kelsey’s face heated.Busted!
“Nothing,” she replied quickly.“Just, uh, remembered something I saw on TV last night.”
She’d always been a terrible liar, but Spring didn’t seem to care.
“Okay,” he said.“See you tonight. Have fun with the girls.”
As soon as Spring was gone, Kelsey went back inside the house to check on the girls.
