“Tonight is all aboutyoufor a change,” she continued, reaching in and closing her fingers around his rapidly hardening cock. “Merry Christmas, my love.”
As she bent and put her face in his lap, his fingers sank into her hair.
“I love you, Winnie,” he groaned as her lips closed around him and she took him deep into her mouth. “I fucking love you.”
A thrill shot through her at his words. She squeezed his hard, muscled thighs to acknowledge she’d heard him.
I love you, too, she thought.
And then she set about driving him out of his mind with lust and pleasure.
“Best. Christmas present. Ever,” he groaned, his fingers tightening on her hair.
Chapter 23: Unwelcome Proposal
The Soiled Dove Inn
January 7
Winnie enjoyed the rest of her winter break with Nick.
They spent one day taking all the kids on an outing to Museum of the Rockies, with its planetarium and amazing dinosaur collection. Afterwards, they enjoyed ice cream cones at Sweet Peaks in downtown Bozeman before driving back to the ranch.
Another day, they drove down to Yellowstone and enjoyed the park’s spectacular scenery without the hordes of tourists that swarmed the roads and trails during the summer months.
On the last day before work resumed at the inn, Winnie invited the family over to soak in the hot spring. Afterwards, they all enjoyed dinner at The Yummy Cowboy. Summer and Brock’s business had grown enough that they had a weekend staff of cooks and servers, and could take time off for the holidays.
The predawn alarm clock on the first Monday morning of the new year was a rude re-entry after a gloriously relaxing break. Kelsey had returned last night, and Nick celebrated by spending the night over at Winnie’s cottage.
The sun had just cleared the eastern mountains when the two of them arrived at the inn to resume their restoration work.
As soon as they stepped out of their vehicles, Karla called them over to her trailer.
Winnie pushed open the door, expecting Karla to inform her about changes to the day’s filming schedule, which was completely normal.
Instead, to her dismay, she found herself facing Geoff and his would-be producer, Mike, on Karla’s video conferencing setup.
“Donna Morris asked me to set up a video conference,” Karla whispered as Winnie and Nick seated themselves in front of Karla’s webcam.
“Morning, y’all. Have y’all had a chance to think about our offer?” Mike asked.
With a shock, Winnie recognized the furnishings in the background. Geoff and Mike were sitting in the living room of the Tudor Revival where Winnie’s dreams had turned into a soap-opera nightmare.
“We have,” Karla said gravely. She turned to Winnie.
“I’ve moved on fromRestoring Seattle,” Winnie said.
Under the table, Karla nudged her foot, which was her longtime code forbe diplomatic.
Reluctantly, Winnie added, “The show had a great run while it lasted—” She couldn’t resist looking pointedly at Geoff, the person responsible for single-handedly ending that great run. “But now I’m focused onReviving Snowberry Springsand enjoying my new partnership with Nick Evans.”
On cue, Nick draped his arm around Winnie’s shoulders. “We’re doing some great work here,” he added.
Geoff’s expression twisted in distaste. “I can see how much you’re enjoying your new partner,” he sneered.
As if he has any right to comment on my relationships, after what he did!Winnie sucked in her breath in outrage.
“We appreciate you thinking of us,” Karla said, jumping in smoothly. “But Winnie is right. Our current project doesn’t give us the bandwidth to film both here and in Seattle.”
