Chris’s fingers slowed and stilled, gently drawing the last sparks of pleasure from her. His chest heaving, Matt slid slowly out of her, leaving her empty and limp with pleasure.

He released his bruising grip on her legs and moved to relax next to her on the bed.

“It actually worked,” he said, in a tone of wonder. Like Chris, his hand came up to cover his heart, the fingers curling slightly, as if he were holding something precious.

He turned his head and gave both of them a radiant, panty-melting sweet smile. “We’re mated, Sophie. We’re yours now. Both of us. Forever.”

Many hours later, after night had had fallen, and when several more rounds of lovemaking had left her deliciously limp and sore in all the right ways, Sophie lay cuddled between her two men.

She felt utterly happy and completely content. And somehow whole in a way that she’d never been before.

Sudden warmth blossomed in her chest, right over her heart. Sophie looked down at herself, and gasped in wonder.

A thick cord of golden light rose from her chest, then split, connecting her to each of their hearts and souls.

“I can see it,” she said, her voice filled with wonder. “I can see our mating bond.” Her fingers skimmed along the ghostly, glowing surface of the cord, and gentle heat warmed her skin.

She reached out for them, remembering at the last minute not to clock Matt with her cast, taking their hands. “I’m the luckiest person in the world, to get both of you as my forever.”

“So, what about South America?” Chris asked sleepily. “Because if you still want that job, I’m going to have to double down on my Spanish lessons and start looking for a job in Ponteverde or whichever city you’re going to be working in.”

“And I’m going to have to start learning Spanish,” Matt added. “But they’ve got ranches there, right?”

“I’m not going anywhere,” she assured them. “Except to medical school.”

“We’ll be there for you,” Chris promised.

“Every step of the way,” Matt agreed. “Now, we just have to decide whether you’re going to be Dr. Langlais-Swanson, Dr. Swanson-Langlais, or Dr. Markidis.”

Sophie laughed. “Plenty of time for that…and for everything else,” she told them. “But no matter what, I will love you both forever. I’ve always loved you, and now you’re mine and we can all be together from now on.”

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Bearpaw Ridge Police Station

Monday, July 1 (One week later)

“You sure you want to do this?” Matt asked, as they walked up the stone steps to the police station’s entrance.

“He needs closure,” Sophie said. “After all this time, he needs to know the truth about what happened on his wedding day.”

“How do you think he’s going to react?” Chris asked.

Sophie’s two mates had insisted on accompanying her on her errand into town.

Now that the truth had finally come to light, it was time to tell Silvio Ornelas’s ghost that Laura’s killers had finally been caught and punished.

“Besides, don’t you think Silvio’s already figured it out, with Sven, Molly, and Astrid Tringstad down there in those jail cells?”

“Maybe,” Sophie allowed. “But I need to do this.”

"After what they tried to do to you, I hope he’s been haunting the hell out of those three," Chris said viciously.

“Are you sure you want to face them?” Matt’s tone was concerned.

Sophie shivered at the thought of coming face to face with those three evil wolf shifters again, and shook her head. “Annika told me that they have a hearing scheduled in front of Judge Einarsson this afternoon. The cell block should be empty right now.”
