“We can get the DOJ involved,” Shay suggested.“On the QT of course.”

Bane shook his head.“No, not yet.I’m not saying never but they are just too slow.Red tape, time for warrants and they will take far too long.We did not find out about this until it was almost too late.So we have no time for bureaucracy, Shay.We have to protect this place against the government knowing we’re here and what we’re doing. We don’t exactly follow the law here.”

Sergi nodded.“And I would rather not bring us under their scrutiny either.”He shrugged.“We obey the laws in the US but sometimes we have to step beyond the law.As in taking these monsters out instead of handing them over for a trial that may never happen.”

Pappy looked over at Shay.“I realize all of that sounds non-patriotic.But I’m gonna have to agree with them, Shay. This is the exact reason you wanted me to set up the network.Let it work here.”

Shay nodded.“Ok...I know there have been some smaller battles already but this one is so much bigger. This could be a real test of their ability.”

Pappy nodded.“It could be but have a little faith, my friend. The network could work here very well.We just need to know where and who.”

Bastian held up his hand and said, “We have some time but not much.Right now, we have the element of surprise but that won’t last long, I’m afraid.”

Sergi nodded.“Da, I think their timetable will be moving up if Winters is dead and Mr.Red was attacked on the water.”He looked over at Bastian.“You said this Mr.Red also had these assassins?”

Bastian nodded.“We didn’t know that until we found them on the boat.”

“So if these men are almost unstoppable how do we stop them?”Felix wanted to know.

Bane looked at him hard and said, “You have to separate their heads from the rest of their bodies.Bullet’s won’t kill them, they can self heal. Also they will keep coming and they won’t stop. They will snap your neck and keep going. They don’t feel pain.”

“Like fictional zombies?”Nikoli asked.

“Not zombies,” Faith stated in a strained voice.

Everyone in the room looked over at her.

Chapter Four

Faith went on as shelooked upset, ‘They were men who have had their humanity taken from them. They had been given a compound that stripped them of all thoughts of their own. They’re brainwashed into thinking the doctors are their masters and they must do what they are told. They were once homeless now they are expendable.Even when they become expendable, they don’t even know it.Someone else thinks for them, they may live and breathe but they have no thoughts of their own anymore. For those who fought against this process they felt the pain but in the end it did them no good to fight it.They might have become assassins but it happened against their will.”

“Why didn’t this effect you like it did them?”Shay asked her.

Faith shook her head.“When Dupa turned me over to Warrens, I prayed to die.I had already endured years of abuse at Lucas Dupa's hands.I, in fact, was almost dead when Dr.Warrens took me into his care.I know it may sound crazy, but my sister kept calling me from beyond the grave, telling me to fight it.So I began fighting back. When they gave me the shots I went to a place in my mind that they couldn’t reach. When I was in that place they couldn’t hurt me, they couldn’t reach me.I kept my humanity where they had no access to it I suppose?”Shaking her head she admitted, “These other men they did this to.I think that they didn’t even know they were giving their humanity up.”

Bane spoke up now, “We had previously believed that there was a limited number of these men but when we boarded Mr.Red’s boat, we found we were wrong.”
