Faith simply opened the back door while the other men scrambled to join her and they followed her in.
The dog heard the men and scrambled to his feet growling and alerting the man sitting there to turn and look at the group.
Faith stopped in her tracks and gasped.“You!What the hell? You’re supposed to be dead.”She stared at the man facing her.
Looking perplexed, he stared back at her.“What do you mean I’m supposed to be dead?”
“You died a few days ago on your grandparent’s farm,” she whispered as she covered her mouth with her hand.
Cassian finally saw the man’s face and raised his weapon to anticipate any move he might make.
The dog came out from behind the man and stood between his master and the others. He showed his teeth and the hair on the back of his neck rose up to show he was in protection mode.He was a small canine but he meant business here.
“Who the hell is this guy anyway?”Lancelot demanded.
“Conrad Winters,” Faith whispered.“How are you still alive?”
The man shook his head.“I am Conrad Winters my dear...but how did you know my name?”He paused and looked at them all.“I’ve never met any of you before and I haven’t been to my grandparents' farm since I was a child.”
“But you were there in person just two days ago,” Faith told him.“You died there.”
Conrad halted and his eyes got wide. Then he realized something.“I died there? Are you sure you killed me there?”He stepped around his dog and went to grasp her upper arm.
Faith disappeared from his sight to then appear a few feet over to his side.
He shook his head as if he had to clear it from the shock of her disappearing then appearing.“Are you sure you killed him? He’s really dead?”he asked.
Faith looked confused.“Who the hell are you talking about? You died there.”
The man took a deep breath and said, “No my child, not me.I am Conrad Winters but I've been kept here for a number of years now. That SOB took the best years of my life.”
“Who are you talking about?”Lancelot asked.
“Hudson. He’s my twin brother and he looks almost exactly like me.He’s kept me here at this compound under guard for fifteen years now. That rotten man.”Conrad growled. Then he looked at Faith and asked again, “You are sure he’s dead?Absolutely sure?”
Faith nodded.“Yeah, he’s good and dead.”
“Good.I hope it hurt when he died.”Conrad looked angry.“I hope he suffered greatly.”
